I usually have 2-3 books that I read - what I read depends on my mood. I have just started Placid River Runs Deep by Mollie Hunt, I'm 1/3 of the way through A Rule Against Murder by Louise Penny, it isn't keeping my interest as much as the first three but I plan on reading the whole series, sometimes one or two books in a series aren't as good as the others. My bedtime reading is a rereading of a beloved series, the Cat Who series by Lilian Jackson Braun. I reread this series about every 3 years, Koko and Yum Yum put me in a good mood for sleep and I never tire of Qwilleran. Is anyone a fan of Delores Stewart Riccio? She passed away right after she sent her book The Divine Circle of Ladies Dancing Up a Storm to the publisher, this was over a year ago and her daughter hoped to have it published September last year. I keep hoping to see it in print soon but I guess there are probably legal issues holding things up and I know nothing about the publishing world. I hope it eventually gets published.

Gloucester Crescent by William Miller. A memoir of his childhood and youth in the 60s-80s, growing up in a London neighbourhood where just about everyone was a writer or a publisher, he was surrounded by intellectuals on all sides - not always a happy experience.

Never saw the film, and after McQueen's tedious art-house hackery in Hunger, I'm not really minded to. This is pretty good so far though.

Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup, by John Carreyrou.
The guy who did The Big Short is thinking of making this into a movie and I hope it happens.

Just started reading Mr. American by George MacDonald Fraser. So far it's really slow moving although it's supposed to be an adventure story, so I hope we get to the action soon. I am about one third into The Shooting Party by Checkhov. This is said to be the first mystery novel where The narrator turns out to be the killer .

The QC who represented the Guardian in the Leveson enquiry, and the BBC in the Hutton enquiry, has apparently written a fantasy trilogy. Which gets a big thumbs-up from Hilary Mantel, and so far seems quite good.
