I think that The Aviator is the one that turned my opinion of him...
Him as J. Edgar Hoover in J. Edgar just cemented that opinion.
He can be anybody.

Titanic remains the finest film he's been in. A- my #46 all time.
His best performance for me is The Aviator, should've won the Oscar.

My favourite performance of his has gotta be Calvin Candy in Django. Ive not seen all his films so i dont know if hes played a villain before but his portrayal of a racist, white supremacist 19th century southern rich guy is just superb and so out of the ordinary. Its always fascinating to see archetype good guys in Hollywood reverse roles and play a villain. Tom Cruise pulled it off brilliantly in Collateral as well.

He probably has the best filmography of any actor ever. I am serious about that. He has been in a ton of great movies. Still, The Departed is easily his best film. It is actually in my top ten of all time. Amazing movie from beginning to end.

Of his work, I liked INCEPTION, The Aviator, Catch Me if You Can, The Great Gatsby, The Revenant, Titanic the most. Have not yet seen either Django Unchained or The Wolf of Wall Street.
