They certainly have a chance in the East. Can't see them beating Houston or Golden State. Though there are always injuries.
FYI Season series with the Cavs ends 2-2. Cavs have the tiebreaker due to being a division winner.

They were obliterating GS at home earlier in the year just like the Cavs last night before folding in the 2nd half and beat the Rockets this year. Curious how everyone else views the Sixers - i.e. do you like them/hate them/bitter about 'The Process', etc. Such a fun team to watch with players who come from all over the world. Very likable team - players with different personalities from various cultures across the globe - but they all seem to love playing with each other.

Simmons had at least 2 through-his-own-legs dribble moves to score yesterday I haven't seen all that often. When he finally gets an outside shot, man.

And they are incredibly premature and I get how some could roll their eyes. But there's something 'special' here - ala Magic and Kareem. Fultz becomes what they envisioned (combo guard) - and who knows who they sign in Free Agency (LeBron? Klay 2019?) - this team is scary good and ready to dominate for a decade.

Is there any tandem in Sports better than Lightning and the Thunder right now in Simmons and Embiid?

Sixers just reached '50' wins this year. 50-30. Even I'm impressed. Abysmal December and I was questioning Brown and Colangelo at times and hoping maybe they'd make a run at .500 by the end of the year and hopefully be in position to nab the 8th Seed. Absolutely astonishing growth.

Honestly, I can't see Houston losing this year. be pretty sweet if we got to see this in the Finals (although I'd love a Sixers/Warriors matchup)

Realistically, they actually can. They are probably playing better than anyone right now and, if Embiid is back for round one, they will be VERY tough to beat. However, I do not think they are ready yet to beat the likes of Houston, Golden State, or even the Cavs. I feel that they will and should be the underdogs in any seven game series vs one of those three teams. However, if they stay hot and they are healthy they COULD win and that is amazing to think about when you think about where this team was even this time last season.

CAN they? Sure, any team that makes the dance can win it all, in theory at least. But WILL they? lol no.

They certainly can but they won't. The Cavs are a much bigger ratings winner and the NBA won't let anything get in the way of another potential Golden State-Cleveland finals. Am I implying the NBA fixes games? Yes, to an extent.
The Sixers have Simmons, who is a dazzling talent and will be leading them to the finals at some point. If he can develop any kind of outside shot he will be MVP. But that's not as easy as it sounds. He will never be as good a shooter as Donovan Mitchell, who has one of the sweetest jumpers I have ever seen. But he can be as good as a Jason Kidd used to be. Kidd came into the league with one of the most unreliable shots ever. Not as bad as Ball, though.
