...particular sadness when they left, died, or otherwise got written out of their shows?

seriously... Wesley crusher. i was bummed whenever i saw an episode that didn't have him in it. this was before i had gotten into the show and was able to own most of the episodes in one form or another.
i know he is the most hated character and i can see why but all he needed was that girl from that season 1 academy SAT'S episode to keep telling him whenever he would turn obnoxious.
most of the people who died on downton abbey. made my and my sister and her husband to stop watching the show.
Adriana from the sopranos... although i did grow tired of hearing her going CHRISTA FAH all the time. she was a good character who had quite a deep delve into her as a human being. from her getting wrapped up in the feds to the gastro problems. although i could understand why she had to be dealt with.
Christopher from the sopranos for that matter. he grew as well, although he was getting tiresome as a druggie deadbeat. and i am completely with tony for ending him... if they had his baby with them she would have been dead on impact.
Tasha yar from tng. i liked her and i saw room for growth. i also saw the depth of her character and the range of her personality. screw you Roddenberry.
sid fairgate from knots landing. god, what a great neighbor. him and his wife were what it means to be neighbors.
henry blake. although i did find solace in the grandfatherly advice potter gave, henny was with the boys with the antics.
???? dan connor bobby ewing TONY. yeah, soproanos. he was a very relatable character and i liked him a lot. he was surprisingly good with children and especially small children. he was good with animals and i would have gladly gotten into the pool with him in the first episode when the duckies came back. we had frogs in our aboveground pool growing up and we played with them. brian griffin.

Broke my heart: (even though he was technically still around, the heart and soul of the character was gone) This dude. And to think, we spent a whole year not even realizing how pathetic his life became.

What happened to Audrey in Twin Peaks was just terrible.

Broke my heart: (even though he was technically still around, the heart and soul of the character was gone) I might've said Charlie myself, except S3 really didn't give him a whole lot of heavy lifting. Writing was on the wall, lest he became shuffled into weirdness like Claire's fate. It was Monaghan who brought me into the show after LOTR in the first place

Doyle from Angel for me as well. Especially for how fast he came and went. On that note, I'm missing Mark in these new Roseanne episodes as well. His brother David, too.
In a weird way, Game of Thrones isn't the same without Joffrey, either. I loved hating him. Ramsay, tried as he might, couldn't live up.

Glenn (The Walking Dead)
I think his death was one of the best (most heartbreaking and disturbing) moments of the show though.

Marshall on Land of the Lost
Will and Holly just weren't the same without him. And the tune of the intro wasn't so catchy.

Stargate SG-1: Dr. Janet Fraiser Stargate Atlantis: Dr. Carson Beckett Just to name a couple from the Stargate TV Shows... I don't know what the deal was, but the writers seems to enjoy excessively killing off fan favorite characters...
