Where are they 5 years from now? Been a fan of Lamar Jackson for quite some time now and despite winning the Heisman a couple of years ago - he's been incredibly disrespected with the naysayers saying he's too small, will get broken in half and is not a passing QB. Nonsense. He's finally getting some respect and some mocks have him going late in the 1st Round now as opposed to the 4th or 5th. Here's where I go - feel free to dig this up 5 years from now Jackson - Starter in the league Rosen - Out of the league Mayfield - Starter in the league Darnold - Out of the league Allen - Out of the league What say you?

Three out of the league? You would have to be pretty awful to be out of the league if you are a top 10-15 pick, as all five will be. Don't give me Manziel, he was in the 20's. Hell, EJ Manuel is still drawing a paycheck.
There's no Peyton Manning/Andrew Luck in the bunch. Any one or all could be all-Pro QB's. All five could be zeroes. Rosen is a party boy, Allen and Mayfield have attitude, Darnold looked awful last year, Jackson is a college QB who can't make the next level. I'll wager QB's go 1, 2, 3, 5 and either 6-10 (the teams at 6-10, Indy, Tampa, Chicago, SF and Oakland won't take a QB, but they will deal.) This isn't the Class of 1983. There you had six in the first round. Three Were Gods, Elway, Kelly and Marino, two were good to very good, Eason and O'Brien (both were better than the rep they get) and one was a bust, Blackledge. The ratio will be similar this year.

'out of the league' may be a little harsh maybe in the same position as a brock osweiler - bounce around - show a flash here and there - 3rd stringers 5 years from now - or gone apparently jackson has really impressed and put some muscle on too..... reminds me a bit of the disrespect watson was getting coming out of Clemson to a degree (albeit Watson won a National Title - but Jackson was the Heisman).....

Here's how I'm thinking it will go... 1. Browns - Darnold He's the safest bet. 2. Somebody - Allen. Won't be the Giants. They'll trade. They won't take a QB and watch Eli grind out three more good seasons. They like Saquon Barkley but the trade will be too sweet to pass up. Bills probably, New England maybe. They have two #1 and can afford to let a QB sit and learn. A lot of grief for trading Garoppolo. They need the heir apparent. 3. Jets - Rosen 4. Browns - Barkley. Nice playout for Cleveland 5. Broncos - Mayfield then someone will trade up with Indy or Tampa and take Jackson. Bills if the Giants price is too steep. Cardinals maybe.

I have a feeling Allen goes number 1. The Browns, trying to make up for not selecting Wentz, goes with the most Wentz-like QB in the draft. After that, Darnold, Rosen, Barkley, Mayfield.

Sam Darnold can make a name for himself in Cleveland.

Precisely why I don't think the Giants will take a QB. QB isn't a real need and they could fill a ton of holes with that pick. The Bills will give up two #1's and a #2 for that pick. NY could take Saquon and have him prolong Eli's shelf life. Make the running game the focus of the offense, save on Eli getting hit and take a project QB later this draft or next year. There are other RB's, Derrius Guice, Ronald Jones, the Georgia boys, Sony Michel and Nick Chubb. But to take a QB and either start him and ruin what little you have left in Eli (remember Simms/Hostetler?) or have Eli booed every time he throws a pick and the NY media screaming for Josh Allen? Once again, too many other needs for the G-Men. Jets have no choice. Like the Bills, this quagmire at QB has to stop now. I'll be shocked (and pissed) if the Bills don't pick at #2 on draft day.

Offensive Line - it all starts up front protecting the QB, controlling the clock, opening holes for a running game and giving the QB enough time in the pocket to pass or improvise a bit if his options are shutdown downfield 2. Defensive Line 3. Secondary . . then QB, WR, RB ......and to a much lesser extent punter/kicker. i'd try to build the most dominant O-Line in football .........

Lamar Jackson = RG3 2.0 Baker Mayfield = a slightly better Colt McCoy Josh Rosen = Jay Cutler 2.0
I'm way more bullish on Allen than most. He has a lot of risk, but his ceiling is the highest, and I'd bet on the ceiling. Of the six main quarterbacks, he has by far and away the best percentage of quality throws in the redzone per Pro Football Focus of the big six quarterbacks.
If I'm the Jets, I'm okay with getting any of Darnold, Rosen, or Allen. Personally, I'd take Mason Rudolph over both Jackson and Mayfield.

But the Bills, Jets and Browns haven't had a decent QB in forever. Bills, since Kelly. A couple placeholders, Flutie, Orton, a couple so-so's, Tyrod. But none since Kelly. Who was the last long term healthy solution for the Jets? Pennington had moments but he had the shoulder of a 90 year old woman. Testaverde had moments but he was over the hill. Then who, O'Brien? Richard Todd? Namath? The Browns haven't had a quality QB in this version of the team and you have to go back to Kosar. And the QB's aren't there next year. A few "maybe's", Jarred Stitham from Auburn, Will Grier from WVU, Drew Lock from Missouri, the QB form Washington who's name I can't come up with. None are even in Lamar Jackson's league. Or Luke Maye's. You can't compete in the NFL running out bums behind center for years and years and expect the fans to give a shit. No matter what the other needs your team has, if you need a QB, this is the year.

There have been short QBs that have been great and tall QBs that have sucked. Height is used as an excuse when they fail.

He had 18 more touchdown passes than the second place QB in the SEC - - Stitham had 18 passing touchdowns total. Outside of a major injury, he's a top three pick next year, no doubt.
