Lol, I don't miss the slow speeds dial up gave us, but for nostalgia's sake I do miss that noise. When I first started getting on the net back in the late 90s it was an exciting time having all that information at our fingertips. That's something that we all take for granted now. I remember I had a uni account that allowed maybe 15 hours’ internet access per week from any modem, as long as you logged in via Unix or whatever it was. The dial-up sessions would only allow no longer than four hours, and then it’d kick you out after that. I had the passwords to two other former classmates whom I knew would never use their allotted dial-up quota, so I logically worked out their usernames and passwords, so I had 3 accounts (triple the hours of access). I doubt they ever knew I was using it. I had to memorise whose access I’d used up so I could juggle the accounts around, which gave me many hours of free net access a week. I was lucky enough not to have to deal with having a limit on internet. I remember people that I worked with using AOL and getting huge phone bills because they had to dial long distance to use it.

...the sound of church bells ringing on Sunday morning...and the sound of auto horns blaring when a wedding procession went by on the street...

I kind of miss the sound of those little mini-bike scooters that I'd hear in various parts of Europe that I visited. Or maybe it's not the sound I miss so much, but just the experience of being over in some little town in Spain, or Italy, etc. where I'd see and hear those little scooters quite often.

Ah, yes, "mopeds"... time has passed and I had totally forgotten that term. Thanks!

...and thankfully we can still hear the rumble sound of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. HD actually patented that sound...

I miss the "meow" that one of my mom's cats had, years ago. Sweetest little cat in the world, with her own distinctive voice... eventually she died, but for about a year after she died, I swear I could hear her meow drifting to me from somewhere in the distance, as if carried by the wind...

Although the reason why he would do this I wouldn't like, I miss my dog crying out of fear we were being broken into. Our one time neighbors above us would rent out their apartment and their kids would run all over the place and jump off of the furniture. Caused my dog to freak out something awful. He would either go to me to protect me or to the door to guard it. They were that loud.

The sound of the horn blowing at 7 am to signal the start of the morning shift at some plant. It would echo throughout the mountains and valleys, a long, lonesome signal.
