Please, I don't mean to encourage trolls. I genuinely don't understand why she's gotten such a negative response. I swear, I think she's more-hated than Jar Jar Binks, and I just don't understand why? She wasn't the best character of the LAST JEDI or the new trilogy, but she's hardly the worst. Even months down the road, I just can't wrap my head around why people have this explosively negative reaction to her.

Shes weak, comes across as an obsessed fangirl and gets in Finn's way when he tries to stop Ren. Finn seems uncomfortable,he seems truly happy when he sees Rey at the end. Shes useless and pointless.

There's a thread on the board for this that lenlenlen1 started not long after the movie came out. Lots of good responses there.

She was annoying in every way imaginable and had no redeeming characteristics. Her motivations on Canto Bight were some special kind of SJW retardation, her cucking of Finn was redundant, her melodramatic emotional state of being was irritating, her decisions throughout the film were all stupid (yet the film subconsciously tries to convince its audience that she's a heroic genius), the terrible new direction this saga is taking was personified in her cringeworthy dialogue upon "saving" Finn, and the fact that she even exists and takes up film time that could have gone towards making good on the promise to actually develop Phasma (who was an interesting character) was a piss poor decision.

This is a personal failing of mine for which I accept guilt, but as for "Other", I am annoyed by her hair and how fat/puffy her face is.

I did not feel that she was that hated, I think people loathed the treatment of Luke and Holdo more than Rose. Not to speak about Jar Jar and Rey.
Rose was just useless and bland, her lines and actions seemed that of a 7 year old girl in a woman's body, superficial and naive, especially when releasing the horses.
And she had the most absurd and anticlimactic love-declaration scene in film history, something a pubescent 12 year old would do and say when meeting Justin Bieber.

The audience was probably hoping for some cliche ninja warrior woman or something, and disliked they got something else. And they don't like that she kept Finn from committing pointless suicide and her lines seem too fluffy and not warlike enough.

Even months down the road, I just can't wrap my head around why people have this explosively negative reaction to her. I voted "Wasn't needed in the film". Many of us asked for more Poe and Finn time, whether as best bros or Stormpilot. Who the hell asked for Rose? Once she was here, I was like, "All right. I guess I'll give her a chance." Then I saw her tasing Finn and forcing him to stay with the Resistance. That pissed me off. She basically made him a slave all over again. Despite being on an urgent mission, Rose wasted time freeing space horses that can easily be recaptured. She did nothing about the slave children, their mission turned out to be a waste of time, Rose hero blocked Finn's epic sacrifice, and she kissed him without his permission. I'm surprised Finn didn't tweet #MeToo. I don't hate Rose, but I could've done without her. Shoot, at least give us her sister instead. She seemed cool.

if they only had made that gem a post credit scene most people would have loved the TLJ. A historic mistake, I demand a non-director's cut.

"It was a no-win situation." I'm glad to see I'm not the only Trekkie who can't read anything about no-win scenarios, and NOT-THINK of Kirk.

Okay, I feel like I do have a much better understanding now. I still think the code breaker dude is the worst new character of the trilogy - but I can see why people feel the way they do about Rose now. Y'all made some good points too, and thank you for helping.

That sounds like you're saying that they were hoping for her to be an action heroine! Didn't you say that OT fans don't want any of the ST characters to do anything but be useless sidekicks? But now you're saying that they wanted Rose to be a ninja action heroine. Oh what a tangled web we weave... LOL

Then again, you were all fine with the "Blind Asian Martial Artist" cliché in Rogue One. If Rose had been like THAT you'd just be further ripping into her.

Didn't you just say we want Rose to be a cliche action heroine? Now we would supposedly criticize and dislike her for it?!? The only hypocrisy is with you constantly contradicting your own accusations and arguments! And I gotta tell you, you're an embarrassment of laughs.

DESPITE having no problems when Rogue One did it!

I had problems with that aspect of Rogue One. I had problems with "the force" apparently speaking to him, and guiding him..But overall, I can still actually watch that movie and find entertainment.

But you just said we complain about Rose because she's not a ninja heroine. So we want her to be a ninja heroine to complain about her being what we wanted her to be so we wouldn't complain about her! YOU ARE THE BIGGEST FREAKING IDIOT I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED ON ANY STAR WARS FORUM. Congratulations! If you are typical of the person the sequel trilogy is marketed to, no wonder it sucks so bad.
