De Bruyne is an excellent player and the stand out for an excellent City team, but the player of the year is Salah, I find it odd that it's even being discussed.
Salah scores an absolute shitload of goals, he creates plenty, he's on course for the best goalscoring season in PL history - both in PL and all competitions, better even than Cristiano Ronaldo in his first Ballon d'Or season - he consistently delivers against the best sides and he may well lead Liverpool to the Champions League title. If De Bruyne had broken his leg on the first day of the season City still would have won the league and would have won it by a big margin, if the same thing had happened to Salah Liverpool would be battling for sixth and City would be in the CL Semi Finals.

Basically, the strikers are saying Salah, the midfielders are saying De Bruyne.
Shearer (striker) - Salah Sutton (striker) - Salah Dion Dublin (striker) - Salah
Lampard (midfielder) - De Bruyne Jenas (midfielder) - De Bruyne Leon Osman (midfielder) - De Bruyne
The rest is mixed
Lawro (scouser) - Salah Murphy (scouser) - Salah (I think being an ex Liverpool player trumps being a midfielder) Danny Mills (defender) - De Bruyne Schwarzer (keeper) - Salah Upson (defender) - De Bruyne Waddle (winger) - De Bruyne Nevin (Evertonian) - De Bruyne Kilbane (defender/utility man) - Salah
It's pretty close. Either will deserve it IMO.

For me it would be between...
Salah De Bruyne Son De Gea
Would give to Saleh but just by a whisker over De Bruyne.
