Marvel has played with that idea before, that characters we'll come to love, start out as somewhat villainous characters, or at least ones who we aren't entirely sure which side of the fence they are on. Would be cool to see him flipping out on someone, so that the audience think he may well be a villain. Then have it turn out that he's misinformed, we're under-informed, and he's actually a good guy. Maybe it turns out there is something they are doing on the Raft, and when the military realizes that the Raft is vulnerable to Namor/etc., they move the people they are holding and so Namor is trying to get those people. However, to people who don't know what it going on, it just looks like he's killing agents/military dudes/etc. and breaking into random buildings to steal things that make no sense. Be fun if Natasha is the one who figures it out- that she looks it all over and it makes sense to her (or Bucky?) because she's been in that situation before. Then it turns out he's a good guy, and he can help out the Avengers, get his own solo movie, etc. etc. Wow. I mean, I only have a slight knowledge of Namor (mostly through a friend who is a nerd over anything and everything Atlantis/merfolk/ocean related), so I didn't know that was how he got his start. This could work!

Yeah I didn't think Captain Marvel was supposed to be THAT powerful in the comics, especially not a heavy hitters like Hulk or Thor.
I guess they're changing it up for the movie. So when they say she will be strongest in the MCU so far...does that include Thanks? Who they already said was the strongest?

This could work! This is my worry, that people won't realize the anti-social Arthur Curry is a rip off of Namor's pissed off humans are mucking up his underwater homeland His name is roman backwards. The creator tried several such words backwards before settling on namor.

I suspect they are rolling some of Mar-vell's powers into hers, but he is a Kree like Ronan.

The creator tried several such words backwards before settling on namor. I did remember my friend telling me the Roman/Namor thing, and that Namor pre-dated Curry/Aquaman. I initially asked my friend after seeing a photo manip someone did of Luke Evans's promo material for DRACULA UNTOLD, to make him look like Namor. I knew the name from one of my friend's various fan-rants and he explained, after I asked, who Namor was, where he was from, etc. etc. real quick, then asked why I wanted to know. I showed him the picture, and he just growled something to the effect of, "Get with it, Marvel. Bring this man into the movies!"

Ironically enough, this is what may happen with Darkseid....I think people will see Thanos in Infinity War and then think Darkseid is a knock-off of him when he shows up later.

Did some surfing, found out that Bucky & Namor both had a time where they were traveling amnesiacs post-WWII and bumped into each other, staying in the same flophouse without recognizing each other due to the memory problems both were suffering. But some version of the Human Torch found and restored Namor (doesn't seem like he helped Bucky though), only for Namor to try to go home, and find Atlantis as nothing but a bombed out ruin thanks to A-bombs being dropped on it. With that in mind, I don't think it would be so hard to give him an interesting story and an intro into the Marvel movies.

Not that there's anything wrong with a strong female character, just seems weird they're making her the strongest when she's normally only around half of Thor's strength and power levels.

Unless they are going with her being in the phase where she was channeling energy directly from the stars? I forget the name they were using for her, but her costume was white and her skin was made to look like she almost was a star, before she became Warbird (which is my favorite version of the character). In which case, going against Thanos could be what, in the MCU rather than the Marvel Comics, could be what causes her to get knocked down a dozen rungs in power level.... Or they could do it the other way? That in her solo-film where she's in the 90s, she has her Warbird level powers and fighting Thanos somehow causes her to become the more powerful version of herself?

There have been a few characters known as Captain Marvel

That would not be Carol Danvers. It would, actually. She was known as Binary. She was kidnapped by the alien Brood, joined some space-pirate group, was powered by the cosmos, and was off doing all that instead of chillin' with the Avengers/X-Men.
