Why would I have a favorite and least favorite genre? What matters is the quality of the movie. Genre should not matter.
Although I suppose hardcore space films are generally more interesting than any other type of movie.

Going strictly by what IMDb lists, which is 20 genres, here is some information for me... here is how the genres rank for me, based on average score according to what IMDb tells me, when I only count the genres I have seen at least 150 titles... 1.Crime - 5.34 average 2.Action 3.Thriller 4.Drama 5.Adventure 6.Comedy 7.Mystery 8.Sci-Fi 9.Fantasy 10.Romance 11.Horror - 4.65 average given those facts, based on what IMDb tells me, the first four genres are the safest bets for me in general but I do believe there is some movies in each of those genres that have movies amongst My Favorite Movies in general although I imagine Horror/Romance are limited and I would even assume Comedy is pretty limited also especially in terms of straight comedies but even here there is still some that stand out. excluding volume of titles seen, like regardless of this, Western(69 titles seen) is my highest ranked genre with Horror (258 titles seen) being the lowest. but like my straight up opinion... 'Musicals' are pretty much the gold standard of crap as that's pretty much THE genre I suspect is near universally disliked amongst us guys as sung dialog etc gets boring very fast. but ill say this... for 'popular' genres, Horror is the all around worst for me because that genre is largely a dime-a-dozen and I may even say that about Comedy to as straight comedies that stand out tend to be few and further between but I would still take the Comedy genre over Horror overall as Horror movies that are worth mentioning are very limited and more limited than Comedy for me. but one genre that I think is THE most universally disliked amongst us guys... Musicals. that's my #1 most disliked genre overall in general as when dialog is sung, it gets boring really fast. but to name some of the weakest genres in general... Musicals/Family/Animation etc. I see 'Animation' as something largely for kids as I don't really see the appeal as the only real exception for me would be the anime 'Death Note (2006-2007)'. but I would say as a rough guideline that... 'Crime | Drama' and variations tend to be one of the safest bets for me in general as 'Drama' makes up the largest volume of movies I have seen which IMDb tells me that 1,200 out of the 2,223 titles I have rated have 'Drama' as apart of their genre and there is only four genres with 700+ titles seen in each genre which are... Crime/Action/Thriller/Drama. Crime is my highest average rated genre that has at least 150+ titles seen which basically boils down to what I just mentioned in that exact order with Crime/Action/Thriller/Drama based on average score. but I see some people list 'Westerns' as one of their least favorite genres... for me that genre is capable of outputting a high quality movie. in fact, there are 15 Westerns that are amongst My Favorite Movies in general with four of those within my Top 9 movies straight up. NOTE: people can click on their IMDb account name and you will see on the right side of the page 'Ratings Analysis' and from there in the bottom part of that section you will see 'see more' and click that and it will show the genres with some stats. Roberto Seriously? I would figure you probably have some genres that are much more likely to output a quality movie than others are, correct? ; and then sort of the reverse of that where some genres have either zero or close to zero chance of outputting a movie of any real worth. genre definitely matters as some genres have either zero, or close to zero, chance of outputting a movie of any real worth while some genres have a much higher chance of that. hence, that's what the topic is basically asking for.
