Under appreciated, very entertaining, and fun. Great score, great cinematography and the best damsel of all Kong movies Jessica Lange.

One wonders if the humor we see in it today was intentional. The overkill of the hippie always being correct about every single thing, and his hateful treason against his own country when he cheered for Kong killing his own military members doing their job.
Today, it stands as total humor. Black humor of course.
Jessica Lange, like the heroine of the Jack Black Kong, was more of a girl next door than Fay Wray was, an ordinary plain underdog blond. It's easy to forget that blond hair was once regarded as an underdog, inferior trait by almost every culture. Fay Wray was a bit better looking than most. The later ones were more ordinary women doing the best they could with what little they had.
The preaching was comedic. I say this as someone who agrees with left wing principles of Ecology and Health for future people. The preaching in this movie was pure comedy in the way the hero was always correct and the villains always fools. If one takes it seriously, it makes us liberals look more self righteous and arrogant than the other side.
In most ways, it was an improvement over the original. 7/10. The original was 2/10, relying on the early exciting jungle scenes, actually dependent on the log scene all the way. The Jack Black one was perhaps 8/10.

That poster is so kick ass, it really sold it to all us kids dying to see it back then. The movie scene was not quite what was depicted on the poster, I was hoping Jackson's version would deliver something epic like this, but they had a more scaled down Kong.

Yeah, Kong certainly wasn't that big. Plus, that tagline... They are aware a previous King Kong movie existed right?

Not a fan of this film but it is worth watching thanks to Jessica Lange's world class set of legs.

A bad remake of the original but better acting and story sense (and soundtrack) than the Jackson version.
It has a typical 70s kind of ambience so notice at the end Jeff Bridges is watching her from a distance--she is now caught up in the media circus (which she had wanted) and he is out of sync with that.
One scene they didnt shoot which sounded cool was to be when they are in the jungle, they step on a fallen giant tree and it starts moving, and turns out to be a giant snake.
Still, I can watch it now and then as an oddity.
Cannot stand Jack Black and Adrian Brody--the Jackson film had so many bad decisions.
The original is still the best made.

Really don't like this movie. Boring, overly campy, and obnoxiously liberal (even for me). But yeah yeah, Jessica Lange was purdy.
