"Louis, sometimes dead is better. The Indians knew that. They stopped using that burial ground when the ground went sour. Don't think about doing it, Louis. The place gets holier, but the place... is evil."
Who on Earth could replace Fred Gwynne saying that? Maybe Sam Elliot or Jeff Bridges.

As for the remake I'd love to see one. On a side note, is it really a remake when the source material is a novel? Doesn't really matter but some folk really don't like remakes.

My guess is that Clarke will fight a Wendigo, which is mentioned.

Can't they just leave well enough alone?
All these remakes are gash.

Jason Clarke, really? Does this guy ever take a rest? He seems to be in everything these days.

I wouldn't class this as a remake myself.
My guess is that they're basing this movie directly on Stephen King's novel rather than Mary Lambert's film.
I'm glad they're having another go at it because I didn't think the '89 movie did the book justice in all honesty.

I'm glad they're having another go at it because I didn't think the '89 movie did the book justice in all honesty. It was ok but nothing special. I'd like to see another adaptation. Some talented people out there that could really make it good as we've seen in other Stephen King adaptations.

The worst case scenario if it is bad you still have the other one to watch and the book to read. I'm thankful it ain't a sequel to the sequel.

Whatever anybody thinks of the original, it was scripted by Stephen King and he was very happy with the result. It's got its cheesey moments that don't really work, but overall I think it's is pretty well handled.
It could be good, but the odds are stacked against it. Although, I suppose you could have said the same for IT, and that mostly worked out.. So far, at least.
But I doubt you'll get anyone to match Fred Gwynne's sort of iconic and imitation worthy turn in the original from this remake.
It is being directed by the guys who made Starry Eyes though, and that showed some potential.

Jason Clarke is an excellent actor though, been watching his career ever since Brotherhood got abruptly cancelled.

Under the arc of a weather stain boards, Ancient goblins, and warlords, Come out of the ground, not making a sound, The smell of death is all around, And the night when the cold wind blows, No one cares, nobody knows. I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary, I don't want to live my life again. I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary, I don't want to live my life again. Jason Clarke to the sacred place, This ain't a dream, I can't escape, Molars and fangs, the clicking of bones, Spirits moaning among the tombstones, And the night, when the moon is bright, Someone cries, something ain't right. The moon is full, the air is still, All of a sudden I feel a chill, Jason Clarke, flesh rotting away, Skeletons dance, I curse this day, And the night when the wolves cry out, Listen close and you can hear me shout. I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary, I don't want to live my life again. I don't want to be buried in a Pet Sematary, I don't want to live my life again, oh no, oh no I don't want to live my life again, oh no, oh oh, I don't want to live my life again, oh no no no I don't want to live my life again, oh oh
