Some of those aren't half bad.

Jovovich as BW would have been way better than Scarjo.

I…actually think that in many ways I’d prefer these castings.

Switch Falcon and War Machine. But I don't know how the egos of Cruise and Murphy would handle it in the 90s.
Ethan Hawk was too much of the bad boy loner in the 90s to be Vision.
With Milla being Black Widow, are you guys thinking just her fighting or acting like a spy? Yeah, she's athletic (Fif Element), but could she have pulled off something like the Loki interrogation? Can you honestly see her going up against Gary Oldman in that scene? Or even The Winter Soldier as a whole?
And I'm trying to think if Halle Berry was big enough they would have given her Gamora. She was still "that pretty girl" back then. Zoe Saldana wasn't Zoe Saldana until 2009 (Star Trek/ Avatar, her X-men).

It's not like Scarjo did some heavy acting as BW, nor is Scarjo famous for her acting skills. That said, I think Sharon Stone would have made a better BW.

Not bad, totally agree with Brendan Fraser as Starlord and Halle Berry as Gamora, totally disagree with Tom Cruise being Iron Man and Cuba Gooding as War Machine though.

Nah, I completely disagree with Halle Berry as Gamora. She's better than Saldana but then again Saldana was completely wrong for Gamora anyway. I mean, Gamora is supposed to be the most dangerous and feared assassin in the universe. Does either Berry or Saldana give you that vibe?

Yeah I saw Colombiana... and fancy fight scenes still won't make Saldana intimidating. She just doesn't have the intensity.

But do you really think that Milla could do the part where she is fake crying/worried about what Loki is saying then turn it on a dime when she got the info? Back in the 90s I mean. Sure, I think Milla could probably do that now, but not back then. I'm looking at this purely from a 90s Milla vs ScarJo in 2012 perspective.

And that's what I was saying, that they mis-represented Gamora's character (and Black Widow too if you ask me). These are highly dangerous assassins and spies yet they don't carry themselves with the kind of confidence, intensity and badassery that you'd associate with these kind of professions. Angelina Jolie managed it with Salt. Antje Traue was completely believable as Faora. That lady who plays Sinara in AoS is awesomely intense in her role. Emily Blunt is believably tough in Edge of Tomorrow. Sarah Connor in T2 is a great example. Even Gal Gadot is pretty badass as Diana. Compared to them, Gamora and BW seem pretty soft.

Some of those are pretty good. Though would a black actor even be considered for Fury in the 90s? A black Fury didn't appear until the next decade....and if we are talking just equivalents...well Jackson was around in the 90s and black Fury was modelled on him.

What I mean is they shouldn't be the type of characters that would scare a person with a look. They should scare people by what they can do. Assassins and spies shouldn't carry themselves in a way that get them noticed. Every character you named off are military types and warriors. The only one that wasn't a military type and was actually close to how Black Widow is is Salt and she did not carry herself like a hard ass.

I thought this was about the movies itself. well it would have been better under the right direction, maybe like Blade. Gotten more respect.
And eddie murphy wont be flacon. he was a leading man in the 90s.

Nah, if the MCU existed as it is back then CBMs would've become more respected as a genre much sooner. The X-Men movies wouldn't have gained a foothold because people wouldn't be intrigued by pretentious stuff anymore. They'd want authentic stuff. Essentially, the MCU in the 90s would've killed most ashamed CBMs in their cradle.
