Some of those are pretty good. Though would a black actor even be considered for Fury in the 90s? A black Fury didn't appear until the next decade....and if we are talking just equivalents...well Jackson was around in the 90s and black Fury was modelled on him. They are probably going for the equivalent of the current actors. Looking at the pics now, I can see Murphy being the equivalent of Mackie. Cuba Gooding, Jr. kinda has that soft way of speaking like Howard. Keith David has a really loud voice like Jackson. But if that is the case, I really don't get Winona Ryder. I mean, Michelle Yeoh?

And that's what I was saying, that they mis-represented Gamora's character (and Black Widow too if you ask me). These are highly dangerous assassins and spies yet they don't carry themselves with the kind of confidence, intensity and badassery that you'd associate with these kind of professions. Angelina Jolie managed it with Salt. Antje Traue was completely believable as Faora. That lady who plays Sinara in AoS is awesomely intense in her role. Emily Blunt is believably tough in Edge of Tomorrow. Sarah Connor in T2 is a great example. Even Gal Gadot is pretty badass as Diana. Compared to them, Gamora and BW seem pretty soft. What I mean is they shouldn't be the type of characters that would scare a person with a look. They should scare people by what they can do. Assassins and spies shouldn't carry themselves in a way that get them noticed. Every character you named off are military types and warriors. The only one that wasn't a military type and was actually close to how Black Widow is is Salt and she did not carry herself like a hard ass. Maybe in real life, where your average spy and hitman is not someone who can casually take out dozens of armed men in pure h2h. Not in movies and definitely not based on how BW and Gamora were portrayed in comics. So my point stands - the actresses chosen for their roles do not live up to the roles. In the end Scarjo and Saldana look too soft to be believable as hardened killers.

No, Natasha is a hardened killer and fighter first and foremost. You don't get to be the top of that game and still look that soft.

A spy that stands out or looks too intimidating is a failure. She was a spy when she was first introduced in the comics.

I thought this was about the movies itself. well it would have been better under the right direction, maybe like Blade. Gotten more respect. And eddie murphy wont be flacon. he was a leading man in the 90s. His star was dying in the 90s. All he had was The Nutty Professor and maybe Boomerang. Everything else were duds. Mulan was his start of being the funny animal sidekick voice. But he still had the ego of a leading man. That's why I think he would be a better fit for Rhodey. But with his leading man ego still there, could he play second to Tom Cruise?

Tommy Lee Jones might have been considered for Nick Fury in the 90s.
Michael Rooker for Hawkeye
Gary Oldman for Bruce Banner

GET IT OFF ME!" Dead.

They wouldn't have made Oldman Banner. He was on too much of a villain wave in the 90s. But he was cast as problematic people with sympathetic sides--JFK, Dracula, Beethoven, .... Actually I prefer someone closer to Bixby but Oldman seemed to be the Edward Norton of the early 90s.

Eh, I think 90s Jeff Goldblum would've been a good Bruce Banner. At 6'4, NO WAY. Eh, they could always do camera tricks to make his co-stars look taller next to him. Like how they made Tessa Thompson not look like a midget next to Hemsworth and Hiddleston in Ragnarok, or how Tony doesn't look short next to his co-stars since RDJ is only like 5'8.

When filming The X-Files, the 5'3" Gillian Anderson often stood on things when next to the 6'0" David Duchovny for close-ish standing shots. mentalfloss.com/article/30127/scully-boxblah formersamhmd beat me because I looked up heights
