He's been the main villain that they've built up ever since The Avengers. He was always one of the major villains in the comics.
After they deal with him who else would be a good main villain to have? Galactus?
Are there characters that are actually more powerful than Thanos in Marvel to begin with?

I don’t know about a build-up villain, but Kang the conqueror would be awesome to see. He could really shake things up.

Galactus, the Beyonder, a coalition of Celestials maybe. They have access to characters like Cassandra Nova, Onslaught and Annihilus too now as well.

Didn't they recently mention having the Celestials in Phase 4? Wasn't that supposed to be one? I have no idea if there was a significant villainous one amongst them though. Is Galactus a Celestial?

Galactus is not a celestial, he is a cosmic being who is design to kill celestials. Which is one of the reasons why he eats planets to keep their population down.

They might make Galactus a celestial, like they made Ego one when he isnt.

Honestly I want them to go smaller with the Avengers film in phase 4.
Maybe have them go up against a team of supervillains?

I think I'd rather see a villain team than one big bad...The Sinister Six, Dark Avengers, or even go for the mind fuck option of The Skrulls in Secret Invasion

Is it the Masters of Evil who are the main villain group in Marvel?
DC has the Legion of Doom? And I think Marvel had Masters of Evil. Who usually leads it?

Zemo, so they've already established the foundation for the MoE. They need to build a up a few more villains in the other films first. Obviously they won't call themselves that in the movies, but I could see phase four building toward Avengers Under Siege. Great storyline where the MoE take over Avengers mansion and do some serious damage to the team (as well as Jarvis, who's a real guy in the comics).

There are some solid choices in this thread, but most of them are cosmic threats and that'll seem redundant after Thanos. They could certainly swing back to cosmic threats in phase 5-- future Captain Marvel and/or Guardians installments.

Kinda wish they had more living Earth-based villains that they can turn into the MCU version of the Thunderbolts after Infinity War/Avengers 4.

Yeah, a villain team would be so rad! Dark Avengers was an awesome storyline. Thunderbolts and MofE are great, too. It’s too bad there aren’t any seeds planted for a possible future occurrence anywhere...unless there are, but they’re too subtle?

Yeah I brought this up before but there's very few choices. Red Skull they could bring back and he could be the leader. Abomination was supposed to be locked up somewhere and he's just CGI so they could easily bring him back, make him look more like the comic and say he evolved and there's Baron Mordo. Three and it could probably do with six.
