Damn Houston! So this is now a real series! Didn't think they had it in them! Harden goes 1 of 7 in the 4th quarter and they win. So that's the "MVP"? That's why you don't give the MVP award to a guy on the best team. Obviously that team doesn't rely on one player more than any other team. Can you imagine the Cavs winning a game when Lebron doesn't play well? Heck....has Lebron ever played for a team that could win when he didn't play well? Harden was the one who got us back when we were 0-12. He was all over the warriors in second quarter and a defensive monster all through. Had something like 7 deflections in the game. With and without Harden on the floor:

These real plus minus stats should not always be taken at face value. Who is playing on the other team, what is the momentum of game when a player is on and off court matters a lot. Warriors are known for there 3rd quarter blitz. Harden was there to take that onslaught. From what I remember Harden played about 43 minutes.He played all through the 3rd Quarter. It's an unsaid rule of basketball that a team that wins a quarter by many points rests its important players at beggining of 4th and the other team becomes more hungry. Harden left the game for a while at the beginning of 4th quarter and I would assume he was not playing those minutes when the opponent side were not at there best. I wouldn't read too much into these stats.

12:00 Shaun Livingston enters the game for Kevin Durant 70 - 80
12:00 Clint Capela enters the game for Trevor Ariza 70 - 80
12:00 Chris Paul enters the game for James Harden
Great players wear the best onslaught from the opposition. It almost always happens so in the case of Harden. When Harden leaves, the opposition relaxes too, permitting the Harden-less team to be better in various stats.

There is a reverse line movement in Boston-Cavs game. Cavs started as 1 point fav (as far as I remember) but now Boston is a 1 point favourite.

Game 5 in Boston was a strange game in a strange series. Boston didn't play particularly well, Cleveland played terribly. Lazy turnovers and poor shooting by both teams, but Boston's defense was better. Another solid game from Horford; the Celtics win when the ball goes through him, it's that simple. As a C's fan the crazy thing to me is how many layups Tatum and Brown miss every game. A rookie and a 2nd year player respectively, I can't believe how good they are now-- and they're only going to get better.
I think we can safely assume the Cavs will win game 6 by 25 points, because that's just how this series has gone. The Celtics better be ready for game 7, because LeBron is going to try to go for 60 in that game. Honestly he doesn't have a choice. His teammates have done nothing in Boston.

This game is fn hard to watch...
I lived in Houston all my life, I see this, I know how Houston does. Im probably too much of a negative Houston fan but man...they've broken our hearts so many times. (Cleveland I feel for you!)
Can we just go on like 3549 to 2 run! That be nice.
Ok fine, Ill settle for a 15 to 5 run!

If we lose tonight....we go down in 6. We can't lose tonight. Harden doesnt have it. CP3 is gonna have to do what he did in game 5 V Utah....but something feels insanely wrong here.... |

I totally get what you are saying Shady. Ideally we should have been in double digit lead but we have been shooting so poorly. I don't know if Warriors will give us further chances. Wow...finally we hold on. If we can play this level of defense in the last home game we can actually win. I don't think our shooting can be so bad twice in a row at home.
Tucker is a monster on defense right now. Gordon the man of 4th quarter. I just hope Paul gets well.

The NBA needs to get a handle on that “pump fake and jump into the defender” nonsense that James Harden is known for and now apparently everyone else uses. Legit contact is fine, but dudes are throwing themselves into airborne defenders to cheese free throws.
The point of a pump fake is to shake the defender and get room to shoot, not go for an Oscar for best performance.
This is not directed at any one team, BTW. They were both guilty of doing that tonight. This is a byproduct of the current rules where you so much as breathe on a dude and it’s a foul. There’s gotta be a happy medium so the game doesn’t turn into who can fool the refs better.
