For me, it's easily without a doubt Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005). That film represents everything a third film and a conclusion of a series should be.

LOTR: Return of the King. Also one of the most memorable theater experiences I've ever had.

The question kind of confuses me. I assume it's not asking for the third entry that's better.
Return of the King Last Crusade Toy Story Captain America Civil War Return of the Jedi

LotR: The Return of the King and The Dark Knight Rises are virtually dead even for me.

It's a tie for me between...
-Die Hard 3 (1995) -Terminator 3 (2003)
both within my Top 56 movies.

I want to go back to December 17, 2003. Hop in the Delorean, CK100. Got enough fuel for the Flux Capacitor?, Popeye? Just avoid running into my 18 year old self. Otherwise, the results of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! Granted, that's a worse case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to merely our own galaxy.
