I don't just mean genres.
Me: -Action movies that aren't also sci-fi. -Anime movies that aren't realistic dramas. -Live-action fantasy movies that aren't about superheroes. -Live-action adventure movies (swashbuckler included). -Live-action spoofs. -Jukebox musicals. -Stoner comedies. -Traditional romantic comedies. -Found footage movies. -Slasher movies. -Heist movies. -Disaster movies. -Religious movies. -Silent movies. -Movies about a dystopia. -Movies about organized crime. -Movies from the 1980s. -Movies from the 1930s. -Movies from any country that's not the U.S., England, Australia, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Denmark and Chile. -TV movies. -Direct-to-video movies. -Online movies.

Romance/Romantic Comedies. The only two of one of those I gave I high rating to is Chasing Amy (9/10).
Im also not to crazy over Westerns but I do love The Hateful Eight. So I got one exception there.

I might've said musicals yet The Wizard of Oz gets an A+ from me, my #22 all time.
Musicals & westerns though absolutely overall rate the poorest genres.

I have only given nine movies a 10/10. seventeen movies a 9/10. or only 187 movies out of the 2,175+ total movies I have seen managed to get a 7/10 or higher. some people hand out super high scores too easily in my opinion (roughly 7 out of 10 movies I see are either a 5/10, the most common(most movies I see are a 5/10(Thumbs Down)), or a 6/10, the next most common(a mild Thumbs Up).). for the record... I don't restrict ratings just to restrict them, it's simply that the vast majority of movies are nothing special. but anyways, it's basically easier for me to list the movies, along with their genre based on what IMDb says, that did get my highest grade(i.e. 10/10's only), which are... -Gran Torino (2008) - Drama -Lord of War (2005) - Crime | Drama | Thriller -Open Range (2003) - Action | Drama | Romance -Road to Perdition (2002) - Crime | Drama | Thriller -Training Day (2001) - Crime | Drama | Thriller -Braveheart (1995) - Biography | Drama | History -Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) - Western -The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) - Western -For a Few Dollars More (1965) - Western so as you can tell... Crime | Drama (and variations) tend to be a more common theme amongst my 10/10's and not only that I would say that's probably a decent ball park estimate when it comes to My Favorite Movies in general. twothousandonemark Musicals are the gold standard of crap but Westerns, when done right, are basically the exact opposite for me. but for me... when it comes to general genres that tend to be largely (at the least) nothing special, sticking to the more popular genres I would go with Horror and Comedy and Animation. p.s. I always suspected that Musicals are the most universally disliked genre amongst us males.

I rated 10/10 just a few movies, but it has nothing to do with genre.
It could be a comedy or a thriller or a drama movie, I rated 10 out of 10 The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and I don´t like Westerns, but I recognize a masterpiece when I see it.

Comedies
Too many of them lack a decent rewatch value.

*Found footage movies *Torture horror movies *I'm not sure about comedy. Airplane! Is either a 9 or a 10, but if it was not for that movie I haven't given any comedy a 10. I still have to see Dr. Strangelove though.

As in 10/10? I guess most of them, if not all of them other than Fantasy/Adventure.

So I got one exception there. Interesting, since those 2 movies aren't traditional examples of their respective genres. some people hand out super high scores too easily in my opinion (roughly 7 out of 10 movies I see are either a 5/10, the most common(most movies I see are a 5/10(Thumbs Down)), or a 6/10, the next most common(a mild Thumbs Up).). Musicals are the gold standard of crap I always suspected that Musicals are the most universally disliked genre amongst us males. 1) I've seen more than 4,000 movies. I've given 53 movies a 10/10. 2) Why do you say that? 10/10, 5/5, 4/4, A+, Awesometacular, Better than Sex... Whatever system you prefer.
