Can you provide a logical, reasonable answer to this question:
Why would it be a “sin” to be gay? Since Jews, Christians, and Muslims all agree that homosexuality is a sin against God (with many calling it one of the gravest sins, or mortal sins), then there should be some reasonable explanation for why. Any takers?

Please keep in mind that even heterosexual acts are regarded as being seriously sinful, particularly outside of marriage. The purpose of being male & female & having sex is to procreate.

There are other reasons to have sex besides procreation. Bonding is an important one. And heterosexual intercourse with women after menopause is not banned, is it? And yes there are fundamentalist lunatics who think masturbation is a sin. But has a ban on sex between infertile couples or a ban on masturbation ever been taken seriously by rational Christians? The answer is no.

The purpose of being male & female & having sex is to procreate. Then you consider it a sin for a married postmenopausal woman to have sex? (Infertile couples, too.)

It's not a sin to be gay.
It's a sin to have sex outside of marriage although I'm sure there are some Christian organizations that say sex outside of marriage isn't a sin regardless of what scripture says.
So no issues.

No issues? So, through marriage, God has provided straight people with a non-sinful means to live and act according to their sexual orientation. But God provides no such non-sinful means for gay people to live and act according to the THEIR sexual orientation. So, there is the issue of obvious unfairness on God's part.

Also none of the mainstream Christian bodies would call it anything close to the "gravest" of sins. That is simply not true.

Well, the "No issues" comment was directly tied to me stating that there were churches that have no issues with sex outside of marriage &/or gay married couples. However, as I must often do in conversations with you, let's pretend context doesn't matter. It's not unfairness if there was never an option within the group. It's like saying it's unfair for me to not have wings. There is no reason to obligate God to approve a thing just because people want a thing and especially if there are reasons to frown upon sex outside of marriage.

No one looking at your post would think that "It's not a sin to be gay" isn't included in your "So no issues" conclusion. So your accusation that I took you out of context is BS. But I'll move on to your more relevant BS. It obviously IS an option, as evidenced by the fact that gay and lesbian couples have sexual relationships. Your analogy fails. Instead, you have to imagine a bird with wings of some unusual design that only allows it to fly upside down. Just because that bird doesn't fly the way most other birds do, it is unfair to tell that bird it's not allowed to fly. That's why it's unfair of God to not let gay people marry. This is not about approving sex outside of marriage. It is about God providing marriage to straight people, but denying the same provision to gay people. It is not about giving people something just because they want it. It is about the recognition of basic fairness (which is something that all people have the right to expect from anyone who claims authority).

If the ONLY purpose for sex and gender is to procreate, and sex before the age of consent is rape, and fornication is a sin, then why do minors, and unmarried people have a sex drive? And why do homosexuals have a sexual attraction to the same sex isn’t of the opposite sex? Those seem like some pisspoor design flaws that go against your “plan” does it not?

Well for the ones that say sex outside of marriage is a sin, then clearly being gay would be a sin (in practice) by extension since they are also against gay marriage! Again, what is the point of that being a sin? What is the logical reason why god is so offended by this?

Except that there IS an option you idiot. Gay people CAN have sex, it’s just forbidden apparently for no goddamn reason whatsoever. At least not one that can be explained logically! So yes, that is in fact unfair. Your analogy would be akin to God giving you wings at birth, with the natural instinct to fly, but then FORBID humans from flying in a book, insisting that human flight is an unnatural abomination, and that flying is only for birds. That’s how dumb the homosexuality is sin argument sounds! What reason is there to frown on homosexuals having sex? That is the relevant question that has yet to be answered!

No, you mean 'religious institution approved' family unit.

Now why in the world would it depend on something like that? You're implying that as long as something isn't "needed", that's good enough if you want to declare it a sin. (That's the only inference that can be drawn from your typically fuzzy remarks.)

If your God created everything, then logically he created humans with a sex drive to induce them to have sex with each other. He also created homosexuals as we now know that homosexuals are born that way and not intentionally sinning if they use their God given sex drive. Logically they cannot procreate butt still have a God given need (pun intended...you see how useful my butts can be? ) for sex like everyone else. Surely if this was God's absolute will, that sex was only for procreation, he would have come up with a better system to stop the young, the unmarried, the sterile, the elderly and homosexuals having sex? The current system is just unfair and mean.

Again, what is the point of that being a sin? What is the logical reason why god is so offended by this? That would depend on whether one thinks sex is a need. No it wouldn’t. Why God supposedly feels a certain way about sex has no bearing on what the people he created think about it. If there is one thing that religion makes clear, it doesn’t matter what people THINK. In only matters whether they DO what God wants. Proverbs 3:5Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. So with that in mind, why does God hate homosexuality? Why does God hate sex outside of marriage (but then proceed to design the human body with that instinct outside of marriage)? That doesn’t make any sense!
