Thought I'd add one more. Not embarrassing, but memorable for the wrong reasons. So, when I was a kid, my mom would often decide things were "devilish" for arbitrary reasons and forbid us from partaking in a things involving said devilishness. For instance, dragons were devilish, so she didn't want us watching shows or movies with dragons in them.
Well, one year I was about twelve or thirteen and thought I was getting a bit old for trick or treating. I figured this would be my last year, and I wanted to make it count. About a week before Halloween, my mom tells me I can't trick or treat because Halloween is devilish. This had never been an issue before, but like I said, she was very arbitrary with these things. On Halloween night, she leaves to go visit my aunt's house (not the same aunt from my original post), and I spent the night at home alone being miserable. My mom comes home...and tells me how she and my aunt took my cousins trick or treating around their neighborhood. I was like, "Are you kidding me?!"
So that's the story of the time I was cheated out of my last trick or treat.

Not embarrassing, just a story. I remember being really confused my first year at college. We were driving downtown near a club on Halloween and there were a bunch college girls walking down the street in diapers and tanks tops. I remember thinking, that's legal? I guess it is legal to just walk around in public in a diaper. My girlfriend at the time made a comment about the girls being a target for rapists. That confused me too. I remember thinking, rapists like college girls in diapers? That seemed strange to me. Anyways, that's my college girls in diapers in public on Halloween story. Artist's interpretation of that night:

I was giving out candy to the trick-or-treaters when one kid, a young teenager, showed up in a Nazi uniform. So what are you supposed to say--"nice costume"? "So, your on your way home from a Young Republicans meeting, huh?" Zing!!!

They just want this film to bomb at the box office, don't they?

I'll give it a go - Comer I only know from the recent TALKING HEADS remake - but I have been an Affleck fan since CHASING AMY ( and joy - Bennifer is back say the paps!! ) and rate Driver as one of the most interesting younger actors around. I'm a fan of Driver as an actor, but I did find it funny that the women in this movie are just sliding off their seats at the sight of him. Several scenes where women are talking about how hot he is, and I'm like, "Dude looks like a rat".

But guessing no Comer, no Driver, big awards are looking less likely.. Reviews I've read seem to praise Comer highly so it's still possible. Yeah, she's great in the movie. I'm really bummed the movie flipped (made under $5 opening weekend). I thought it was pretty damn good.

Dentist told me I should have mine removed, but I said they'd never given any problem. He said they would eventually, and kept trying to convince me to get them removed. I did not. Same dentist would have me watch videos advertising expensive procedures while waiting for Novocaine to kick in. Shady stuff. Stopped going to that officer, and my wisdom teeth still haven't ever given any problems.

Thought the first movie was just okay. The footage I've seen of the second movie makes me think that it's going to be crap.

Not thrilled by it. The teaser was better, IMO. Still optimistic about the movie.

Apparently, there are still some key things that haven't been agreed on. So, we'll see if membership accepts the deal.

Seriously, how many times have we ALL gotten candy from neighbors that we didn't like? I remember there was one house that would always give out apple slices. We avoided that house.

Now that it's that time of year again, I find myself thinking of embarrassing moments from Halloween past. Just a few of them:
* My family was broke, so when my friends got full costumes, I always had just a cheap mask. Imagine having a ninja mask but wearing it with your regular clothes. Got made fun of a lot for that.
* The time my cousins dumped the entire bucket of candy with a "take one" sign on it into my bag because my bag had the most room. I didn't really want to take it all, but I let them do it. Then, when their mom found out what they did, they blamed it on me, and since the candy was in my bag, my aunt believed it. She walked me back to that house and made me knock on the door and "confess" to stealing the candy.
* My brother still makes fun of me for the time we went to a house and knocked on the door. An old lady answers and we hold out our bags for the candy. Old lady says, "What are you supposed to say?" Me, an idiot, says "Give me candy". The other kids say "trick or treat", and the lady looks at me like I'm an a-hole.

Its one of my major flaws. I used to love Bruce Willis. The one who was in Pulp Fiction and Die Hard. The good Bruce Willis.
I watch a lot of Mel Gibson's work which tends to be interesting. I have Jodie Foster's back in having Mel Gibson's back, I hate the cancel culture and its unwillingness to encourage the possibility of rehabilitation and even redemption. Gibson and Willis might have been good together, like Tango and Cash on a tequila bender at sunrise.
The problem with Gibson is that it wasn't one bad moment. The guy has a history going back years of, shall we say questionable behavior. I mean, I know telling a Jewish woman that her grandparents were "oven dodgers" is hilarious, but hey, she might not see the humor in it. (In case people didn't pick up on it, that last sentence was meant to be sarcastic. Oh, and if you don't know what I'm referencing, I'm talking about Winona Ryder telling a story about the time Gibson made these comments to her.) We have a history of homophobic crap. (If you can find it, look for the interview from the late-80s or early-90s where he's asked of he's gay, and he's gets offended, insisting that he doesn't look like "one of THEM".) Then there was the "Jews start all the wars" incident. Then there was the recording where he told his girlfriend that he hopes she gets raped by a pack of n-words. Then there's the account of Joe Esterhaz (? spelling) from when he was working with Gibson, which revealed Gibson to just be a horrible human in every conceivable way, such as: hating his own fans, and revealing that when his bodyguards take pictures of him with fans they already know to purposely cut out the heads so the fans will be disappointed when the film is developed (this is before camera phones, obviously); bad mouthing his own friends behind their backs, including calling his agent a "pussy" for crying after the agent's sister died; while hanging out with Esterhaz's 14-year-old son, telling the boy his rape fantasies concerning his ex-girfriend; an absolute belief in debunked antisemitic drivel such as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion; a hot temper, culminating in the infamous, "Who wants to eat?! Let's eat! Hooray!!!!" recording.

This may sound crazy, but I think they should hire Jack Nicholson to be the Joker.
