Always loved this opening. It's getting cooler where I am, and it just reminded me of this opening. Love the creepy music building up, the creaking sounds, the wind blowing, and how atmospheric it is for a day time shot. And it's one of the few Halloween movies to really let you know that it takes place during Halloween in the fall. As great as Halloween '78 will always be, the fact it was filmed during the summer time and it's glaringly obvious has always been a distraction.

CGI stunt cars and CGI stunt men on CGI motorcycles. Screw this crap! Besides that one car crash at the end of the trailer, which looks CG, the other stunts are real. That motorcycle one is and Bond jumping off the bridge (obviously stunt person for both) were actually done.

I believe the guy in the beginning was the Mayor. This is why Gotham needs a new Mayor and Bella Real and Oswald Cobblepot will both run against each other. Carmine Falcone is helping Oswald push for the position and will do as much as he can to make him look good for the media, such as start of a new orphanage foundation ( this is where Dick Grayson comes in much much later). But there’s something bigger at play. Carmine is part of the Elite, working for a cabal. The Court of Owls who are also human traffickers. ( Check the green letter. It has an Owl on it). The previous Mayor was as well. The Riddler wants to expose the Elite and is on a serial killing/jigsaw vigilante spree and wants Batman to figure this out. Catwoman on the other hand wants to stop human trafficking as well. That’s why you are her sneak into that same crime scene to steal whatever the dead Mayor had to connect her to the bigger player but as far as she knows, her main target is Falcone. That's an interesting theory, because in some of the comic interpretations, Martha Wayne was always part of different charities that combated human trafficking. Also, at the end of teaser, the Riddler tells Bruce he's "part of this too." I wonder if that's eluding to the Wayne family in general. Some stories always showed the Wayne family and their wealth in a darker light, and Thomas inherited it from seedy means. The whole rich cabal and court of owls is definitely fits that theory.

I'm more excited for this than Batman honestly. It's embracing what it is, a comic book film, while having a bit of edge and grit to it. Half of these characters in it are ridiculous and silly low-tier heros and villains that no one has ever heard of, and they actually managed to make em look good on screen, right down to comic accurate costumes and colors.

Absolutely outstanding. Once again, DC redefines itself in the best way yet. By retreading old ground. It basically a Batman Begins reboot. Even that shot of him repelling up between the stairs is almost an exact reverse shot of him jumping down thru the bats in Batman Begins. It looks good as Nolan and Se7en are major influences, but it's uninspired too. Obviously this is your type of superhero movie. Fair enough. But don't pretend it's breaking ground here. After all, it's still about a guy dressed in a silly Batsuit. I'd say DC is more redefining itself with The Suicide Squad. Now that looks fantastic!

There's a good chance that may be the "final" battle, so it is taking the usual route of setting it during the dark. It's not terrible, but it is a bit obvious they're trying to hide any blatantly bad CGI by setting it during the dark.

I think it looks good but nothing ground breaking though. It's definitely playing it safe with using Riddler and Catwoman and Penguin and just borrowing the tone and aesthetic of Se7en. So it's nothing super inspiring as a superhero film.

Am I the only one who wasn't quite blown away by this? He looks more like Riddler than Bruce Wayne outside the suit. I maintain it's still playing it safe with characters like Riddler, Catwoman and Penguin.

Ha, glad they're not hiding the eyeliner and just have it as part of the costume even though all the other Batman films try to convince you the mask completely covers around the eyes.

Whoa I didn’t think we’d even get a full trailer?!? Looks great though. Yeah, I didn't even think they got that much filming done.

Probably accurate. I haven't read the book, but it was readapted into season 2 or 3 of Hannibal the show and sucked there as well. Hasn't Harris basically said he was trolling with it? Or at least playing to people who saw Lambs as a tragic romance, ie not me. I haven't read it either, but someone I know read it and told me what happens in it. It said that the novel was written for the main purpose of becoming a movie. I don't see The Silence of the Lambs movie as a tragic romance either. The Hannibal novel apparently goes in that direction as well, with Hannibal Lecter kidnapping Clarice and keeping her constantly drugged so that they can live "happily" ever after. GTFO. Yeah, Hannibal and Rising were both written for the sake of just making a movie and continuing to profit off from the Hannibal character because Hopkins was so well received. I really like Hannibal, but the stuff between Hannibal and Clarice in that film really undermines Silence. He specifically said he had no intentions of pursuing Clarice in Silence (probably speaking both literally eating or romantically pursuing her) and he clearly just respects her enough as a worthy adversary who is more interesting alive.

Hannibal - 7/10
Red Dragon - 6/10
Manhunter - 6/10
Rising - 3/10

I have some strong thoughts on it if you wanna talk about it. Obviously put spoilers. What I meant was, thanks for using so many tags because I resisted actually reading it. I got to the link, and clicked on the page but didn't make it past the first two sentences. Oh, alright. Yeah, it's not particularly organized very well.

Thanks for all of the spoiler tags. I didn't really want to know all of the spoilers, but I opened the thread and clicked through anyway. I have some strong thoughts on it if you wanna talk about it. Obviously put spoilers.

SPOILERS! SPOILERS! Do not read any further if you do not want to be spoiled. If it was coming out this year, I wouldn't be sharing this, nor have looked at it myself. But I've been following Halloween Kills updates lately on Reddit and there was much speculation that the script had leaked, but I never was able to get my hands on it. But, there was a early screening back in May for it, and someone essentially broke down the entire film right down to the nitty-gritty, if anyone is interested. Don't click unless you really want to know and not wait a whole year again. My thoughts.... Definitely disappointed with the direction they took Michael. If you wanna discuss more, I will, just keep it in spoilers.

An entire year, damn son. Although the movie doesn't sound all that promising anyway. I didn't like the emphasis on death and gore in the 2018 one, and this one apparently takes it even further. I don't mind the gore particularly. Blood can be impactful for the viewer when they see a character they're invested in wounded and bloodied to illicit either emotion or dread. There's a balance to showing the result of the violence and less is more. Zombie took it to unnecessary gratuitous levels, but I'd argue one of the best scenes in his sequel was Annie's death, seeing her naked and soaked in blood, because of the relationship between her and Laurie and particularly her father, and how they both react to seeing Annie on the floor. What's discouraging about this next one is that Carpenter and co. are hyping up that it's going to have the largest body count. That's really not in line of what they set out to accomplish with this current canon of Michael. What you get from that is basically characters with very little screen time and development who become red shirts for Michael. That's not really what Michael's character is. I'd rather have a small kill count of characters you at least spent a little time with onscreen before whacking them.

Well that sucks! Besides James Bond, this was probably the second most anticipated film for me this year. It's a good teaser and already sets the tone. One of my favorite comments I read is "the first time emergency vehicles respond in the horror film when you don't want them too."
