this piece of JJ-damage control is as clumsy as it is cynical. I love: A source said that Star Wars is the one franchise and the one piece of his work that he didn't want to mess up and instead it turned into his worst nightmare. Star Trek fans know how that feels first hand. Engage lens flare. Pity he ruined both franchises in the end. DC is next. Now, I have become death, the destroyer of franchises.

Looking forward to Clone Wars. It was Disney's original sin to cancel this formidable show for competition reasons.
Mandalorian should be good too, hope they do not ruin the Yoda species mystery.
Also, give me Obi Wan in show format.

James Gunn would be even worse than JJ Abrams. A lot.

there is no ultimate protagonist. The Lucas movies were about Anakin/Skywalker family. The sequels re-make it the Palpatine Saga as his blood (and probably Palps too) survive.
PT: Anakin OT: Luke ST: Rey
Ultimately all these films are more ensemble pieces anyway.
Chosen one: In the Lucas movies it's Anakin as he brings balance to the Force in RotJ by destroying the Sith (Palps and himself).
The Sequels retcon this by Rey bringing ultimate balance by destroying the Sith; Anakin was just a stepping stone.

as I said: not suited for kiddies and manchildren, maybe if you reach a higher intelligence age. As it stands, I would not discuss the narrative merits of this film any more with you than I wanted to discuss the counterpoint techniques in Mozart's Jupiter symphony with the local Justin Bieber fan club. don't try it... And Star Wars is and has always been for kids. dealing in absolutes? Well this evidently isn't for kids as the age rating, kids killing and violent ending suggest. Parental warnings: www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/star-wars-episode-iii-revenge-of-the-sith/user-reviews/adultYou should never have seen this one. Burn, sithhead, burn.

I agree, its clearly the best. From the iconic opening to the bitter sweet end. The fall of liberty and rise of dictatorship. Not suited for kiddies and manchildren. Can't take Collider seriously. Look, I know everyone is entitled to their opinion and you can't necessarily say it's wrong, and Sith is the least shit of the prequels, I'll give it that. But this is the one opinion that is just unapologetically WRONG. You can't possibly say with a straight face that Sith is the best. You can prop up the movie all you want, but it's ultimately a very dull and shallow movie with mediocre to bad acting -saved for McGregor's Obi-Wan- and a lazy script. It has it's spectacle and the lightsaber fights and probably some of John William's best work, but that's really all it has going for it. as I said: not suited for kiddies and manchildren, maybe if you reach a higher intelligence age. As it stands, I would not discuss the narrative merits of this film any more with you than I wanted to discuss the counterpoint techniques in Mozart's Jupiter symphony with the local Justin Bieber fan club. don't try it...

this is all waiting for Godot IMO. Still, I would buy a properly restored Snyder Cut for a Dollar or two just as long as the juvenile Marvel humor and absurd Superman-CGI is removed.
I do not expect this to be brilliant storytelling or a character study a la Joker or Watchmen, but this should at least work tonally as a coda to MoS and BvS, ie serious films with some substance and character development. This would make this an interesting quasi-trilogy about the rise of the JL.

Credit for what? Using the oldest final-battle trope in the book? The same happened in Jedi which TROS rips off (all is lost on ground and sky, Ewoks show up and win, shield down DS blows up). The reinforcement trope is used in LotR 2 and 3 several times in the big battles; and god only knows in how many other films.
It's lazy writing as the heroes do not get out of dire situations themselves via tactical, strategical actions and ideas, but simply by outside forces conveniently showing up. In this film it did not even make a lick of sense as it unclear how Lando could possibly galaxy-wide rally previously unwilling civil forces ("it's just....people") within a few hours against an military empire (bc he's Lando and was in the OT and they play the SW-Theme music, I guess).

Some people want the top movie review sites to be honest, unlike you. I don't let other people's opinions decide what I'm going to watch so those sites are irrelevant to me. if you believe in that defection, it's at least not a lie. Still, try to understand that informed customers like their orientation sources to be authentic and not deliberately misleading. And they will cry foul at fraudulent actions. It's a sign of intelligence and autonomy. Thank you.

Probably the grossest romance of the decade next to Joker and Harley Quinn, and even they had the sense to have Harley dump his ass. Disney SW: empowering women to stick through the abusive. Your man trying to murder you with a laser sword? You can change him. Eventually.it's far worse than that: - mass murderer leading a murderous evil regime that killed billions - who mind-raped and tortured Rey with the force - who killed her mentor before her eyes and tried to kill Luke - who maimed and crippled her friend Finn who tried defending her - who decimated the Resistance to de facto a dozen people - who physically abused her and got his ass handed by her several times What's not to love? Like many abused women she even distinguishes between good Ben and evil Kylo, driving the cognitive dissonance fully home. A perfect role model for little girls and boys. What a glorious trilogy.

Your Sun style sensationalism is starting to piss me off. no wonder, I remember you harassing female posters back on IMdb. But this guy just reported on facts like countless media outlets did. A lead of the film make fun of the desperate, romantic direction of an abusive film relationship and gets mobbed by angry shippers. An important discussion point in many regards; the fact that it pisses someone like you off makes it all the more relevant.

hated it, but I'm always for new chances, especially with the most popular movie villain of all times. After Ledgers iconic portrayal Leto tried something different but was not given any room for development. His Joker must be set in context with the awesome life-action Harley Quinn.
Et cetero, we have just gotten one of the best stand alone movie-villain performances and character studies in Joker 2019, and it turned out the most profitable comic book movie of all time despite being a R-rated social drama and no-China. Will be a tough act for Leto to challenge.

I totally digged the awesome twist at the end where he said Logan's run is people. Deep. But i think I like the remake better, Huge Jackson is the only Logan for me, rest are posers.

technically in the 6 George Lucas Star Wars movies only one planet is blown up, Alderaan. No other. The Disney-sequel movies (those actually blow up 6+ planets just for fun and nostalgia) are unapologetic trash, they should be disregarded and deleted from anyone's head canon.
The redemption aspect concerns only the Force aspect, not galactic justice. Vader (and Crylo Ben who again is only a Disney poser character) escape galactic justice by dying. So what you are saying is false and true, from a certain point of view.
Do not forget: Star Wars also depicts the systematic corruption and downfall of democracy and liberty as well as the rise of demagogues to power. It has a high narrative and artistic value and is pretty unique in this regards (also it sports great art design and music)...

Alita was a pleasant surprise, looked like unconditional crap, but turned out to be a decent Pinocchio variation in a dystopian sci fi setting; leagues ahead of the other female led films this year.

Disney and RT executed another order 69 by implementing order 86 it seems.
Go to other bigger rating sites like Metacritic or Imdb, the user score lies between 5-6.5 representing the public opinion more accurately. The ones who really love this are radical Last Jedi haters and kids. Everyone else gets a headache.
