Seen all 8 of these for the first time last year, so you're not the only one who was late for the party, and I had only seen bits and pieces up until I decided to give them a go. My ranking could change upon multiple viewings but this is what I have them now:

I won't judge you. I am rather slow at reading, too, though I don't give up unless the material is shit. Come to think of it the book does feel the exact same way with its two halves. Maybe I just haven't gotten to the point where it gets really good. |

The twin girls or the blood elevator are not creepy images in my view. But once Jack Torrance enters the bar, the film starts to get interesting and from the moment Wendy discovers the typewriter till the end, the film is pure gas. I wish the entire film was like that, or that the buildup was shorter and more concentrated. Then I might have sided with the cinephiles who consider this to be superior to King's source novel. As it stands, King's novel is a masterpiece while this is a good film held back from greatness due to the before-mentioned factors.
I have seen the two Lara Croft flicks long ago. I remember liking II more than I.
I recommend True Believer to you. It might be a little difficult to find on home video or streaming but the search is worth it. If you weren't a James Woods fan before, I guarantee that this will make you one.
It does pick up a lot in the second half. I did read halfway through the novel but didn't go back to it for a while because I was distracted and busy with other things and I always felt like reading was a chore, and me being a slow reader doesn't help so it makes me impatient when I can't finish it. I am planning on continuing it during the winter break and hopefully finishing it even though I last read it like 2-3 years ago which means I won't be able to remember so many things. Well I'm gonna get judged for this comment. |

Still excited for it. I feel like the deaging on Doc Ock looks a bit dodgy, hopefully it looks better in the actual movie (though with only 1 month away it might look the same).
