Brees also put up huge numbers because he had the offense. Sure, playing in a dome helped. I think Mahomes will rack up huge numbers, but hardly silverware. But who knows, maybe they will have a draft steal that changes the game. He's just having an offseason, Mahomes is way too talented to keep playing like this. Chiefs will make the necessary adjustments and will be back next season. I think their done this season though. Question is: can they make the adjustment => cap space.

Rough year for Mahomes; leads the league in TDs, but other than that, a really rough year. Too bad he'll never get to 600 tds. Probably never get to 500. Nearly half a dozen QB are in reach as well (Murray, Allen, Stafford, Herbert, Prescott). The Chiefs have a good offense and thus good numbers in this regard, but an godawful defense, and the Super Bowl was no accident. And this idea to outgun or outrun your opponents neither worked for the German pocket-battleships, nor is it working here (signing of a WR instead of a defensive player). So I'm not sure if the Chiefs will be able to bounce back, if their flaw is that fundamental => defense. It's not Mahomes fault but the one of the front office. They failed to learn the lesson from the Super Bowl and seem to have credited this loss to the O-line only. So they fix that problem, thus a good offense performance, but ignore the shortcomings of the defense. But by now the cap space will hit Mahomes as it had hit all the other great QBs: Wilson (O-line), Brees (defense), Rodgers (weapons) etc. pp. So it might have been a bit to early to count the numbers of season Mahomes will need to overcome Brady in won Super Bowl wins. Maybe his first ring will be his only one. But that is what pundits do: chasing (or creating) the next sensation.
