Tokyo 2020 Olympics are still going to happen. As it is, athletes will be in & out of country for their competitions only. I wouldn't even be surprised if podiums were done via zoom, athletes standing for anthems in their hotel room on video, or even already back returned home. I bet 20-40% of actual scheduled events get slashed to nil. Where is the problem to get them vaccinated in time? More then 90% of all people do not even notice that they have COVID unlike the flu which knocks everybody down no matter how old you are. Many athletes had it and just went on... I know of no athlete who died or had to end his career. Japan: 2700 Covid deaths so far...a flu causes more than ten times this number.

On the whole, the numbers from Asia and Africa have been intriguing. My assumption was that India was going to be the most devastated country on Earth due to COVID, but it hasn't been that bad in the scheme of things.Well, India is suddenly seeing a massive second wave where everyone left right and center is getting infected. Even the most masked people I know are getting infected. A couple of week back I said that we would get over the second wave without suffering any massive loss of lives. But I think I may have been wrong. Although the second wave can subside like the first, the new Indian strain (‘double mutant’ strain named B.1.617) seems to be very deadly. Everyone in my family except me and my sister had caught the virus in the first wave. My sister returned to out hometown from Delhi 4 days back (and she is always masked properly) but she tested positive today. It seems most of us will be infected. Those who escaped the first wave may get infected in the second or any future wave. 2 more of my relatives who are always masked and carry hand sanitizer all the time tested positive in the last 3 days (they are not in my town though). Because masks are next to useless, but they are a great symbols. Sweden and (now) Switzerland do it right. My brother is now in quarantine till the 23rd (he was tested negative, but a co-worker has it). One additional week of paid vacation...

Equity = assets - liabilities; I din't think that they got it right and giving Barca too much a benefit of a doubt regarding future earnings. Who knows where COVID leave us, the economic fallout or change in customer spending or behavior. Will they have a full stadium if many still fear the virus, or when everyone has to wear masks, when many face financial hardship...or the new CL format. If it really comes, if they really implement this Swiss system, then I'm out and I will get me an NFL pass. Maybe I won't be the only one who thinks that they are about to go one step to far and the CL earning take a hit...maybe not, and the earn even more money. But this nations league for national teams is a dud, and the TV rating for our national team have set new negative records.
