They know if they hype Avengers Infinity Wars part I and II as their last ride, the people who are kind of over the MCU but used to be into it (ala Avengers I/Phase I) will return for one last hooorah!
He keeps talking about "My contract ends after Infinity Wars" and it's like the 6th time he's brought this up in the past 3 months to get headlines...
Whether it's true or not, he's milking that news. Marvel is smart, they know how to pull at the heart strings of the masses, they make dark/gritty trailers for IM3 because TDKR made so much money for a solo superhero film (even though IM3 wasn't dark) ... They put Ant-Man on posters with Caps Shield, Thor's Hammer, and on Iron Man's shoulder... Even though they weren't in it.
You can say what you want, but they know how to smoke and mirror with the best of them. And people still eat it up. Good for Disney.

Ill probably go see it, despite not really being into much of the latest mcu films and not really enjoying Age of Ultron as much as id hoped i would. But more because it's a closure to an arc rather than the fact that RDJ or Evans wont return as those heroes.

It's nothing personal Mel, it's just business.

Marvel has always been smart with their stuff. I wish the Marvel Knights films would have had the success the MCU stuff did.

Or, perhaps discussions about what to do with Captain America after Infinity War haven't been finalized yet and its all up in the air if they still want to continue with Steve Rogers or not in later movies( Rogers hasn't been the ONLY person to carry the shield before), same goes with Iron Man.
And I wouldn't exactly go as far as to say Iron Man 3 wasn't dark, it's a popcorn movie certainly but it does touch upon PTSD and terrorism is a major deal in the story and themes which leads to some pretty dark imagery and implications.

And all part of a plan to manipulate the media and government in order to receive unlimited funding to AIM and their weapons manufacturing.

Chris Evans has versatility, tell me how his Captain America is anything like his characters from Scott Pilgrim, Sunshine, Puncture, Fantastic Four, Snowpiercer, The Losers, Cellular, and Street Kings( All of which are pretty different characters in and of themselves, the only similarity between them all is that Evans was their portrayer). I wouldn't put him on the level of Bale or Jackman, but he's a pretty solid actor. It is also worth noting that Evans hasn't really lead a major mainstream release outside of Marvel since he got the Captain America role, it's pretty much been indies. Jekyll will be the first mainstream role for him coming up that isn't as Captain America. Having humor doesn't mean they aren't departing from formula, whichever that is given how diverse the MCU is. I suppose you would consider it a departure if it has tons of excessive violence, swearing, a desaturated look, and brooding lead characters.

It is his negotiation tactic with Disney, I believe. He is not particularly versatile compared with Hugh Jackman or Christian Bale and Captain America may as well be the only bankable role he can get in his entire career. Anyone is fool to believe that Marvel/Disney have the balls to depart from their formula. I just read that Brie Larson thinks Captain Marvel is special because she is funny, as if the rest of the MCU characters are not depicted as such. And once again, Marvel haters prove they have no idea what they're talking about. Chris Evans isn't versatile? Yeah, you're an idiot. What formula? Not sending their audiences home depressed? How DARE THEY!

Oh, look, mello has misinformed, passive aggressive things to say about Marvel again. I'm going to enjoy watching your meltdown when they're still around with Phase 6.

When it comes to getting people on board with what they're doing, everyone else is vying for second place. Guardians 2, Thor 3, Spider-Man featuring Iron Man, Star Wars 7, Cars 3, Pirates 5, Beauty and The Beast, Cruella, Coco.... It doesn't matter if they all suck, Disney is going to blow every other studio out of the water again this year.
