Everyone should check out MovieChat.org. There's a very lively discussion going on over there following the (early!) shutdown of IMDB's message boards.
UPDATE: Looks like they just added the archived IMDB general discussion boards (e.g., I Need to Know, etc.)!

No that's a terrible idea. We've just lost 99% of the community. The last thing that needs to happen now is to divide people by making them choose between alternatives.
This board has the most activity and users by far.

This board has the most activity and users by far. 1. MovieChat.org has individual boards for each movie. Does this site? NO. 2. MovieChat.org has millions of archived posts from IMDB. Does this site? NO. Long story short, MovieChat.org is where everyone is going. Let's be honest, a site hosted on "freeforums.net" can't really serve as an adequate replacement (no offense).

I just signed up for IMDB2 after the official boards shut down, but after checking out moviechat, I think I'll head over there. Like zvgtspey said, it just seems more organized than this place.

And those are great features that this board doesn't have but it's worthless if the board is dead. That general board on that site has 140 posts over the past week. There's been over 400 posts here just since I last replied to you. There's 2000 users here now.

There are only 163 topics. What millions of archived posts? and what is the point of archived post when you can't post in there? MovieChat.org only allows to make new thread to empty forum.

You are aware that you can search for any movie in the search bar and view its archived posts...right? Also, looks like MovieChat.org just added archived general discussion boards (e.g., I Need to Know, etc.).

The last thing that needs to happen now is to divide people by making them choose between alternatives. I think the last thing we have to do is fight each other. Come on, we are the good guys! IMDB2 and MovieChat are my favorite boards and I signed up for both. I really appreciate that MovieChat has archived the threads that IMDb disdainfully threw in the trash. I will continue with the same routine, after watching a movie, I´ll check MovieChat movie boards. I´ll also check the general discussion boards there. At the same time, I´ll join the discussions here at IMDB2, I like this site too much, find it very homely, so many people here, imdbers and people who loves movies the way that I do. So, these are my choices, both sites complement each other very fine. Perfect pair to me!

It seems too easy to get an account. I'm certain that this could be troll infested

Can you tell me who (if anyone) monitors the boards? How easy is it to get an account? Is spamming allowed? Are there any board policies?

I do like how it has the they who shall not be named style that you can discuss on the film/tv show's actual page and it has saved some archived posts, but it is a pretty ugly forum. Anyway it will take a while to build up a community like they who shall not be named had.
