Something Else by The Kinks. I really like Dave's "Funny Face" but it saddens me that Ray (or maybe if Dave gave it more time) could have sugared it (maybe the chorus?) into a great single. The tune is recorded with that similar sound/ring of the time eg. The Lemon Pipers, The Five Americans, etc, but only if it had that extra umph, then maybe.

I just listened to Winifred Atwell's 1957 album Rhapsody in Blue. It is an album of George Gershwin tunes played on the piano. It runs about 34 minutes (albums were generally shorter in those days). Here are two tracks from the album:

The last album I listened to is But You've Never Heard Gershwin With Bongos by Don Ralke, released 1960. It consists of versions of George Gershwin tunes...with bongos.

Last album I listened to was: ABBA - The Visitors, which was their final album, released in 1981.
A few tracks from the album: "Head over Heels", a flop single
"When All is Said and Done", why wasn't this a single in more countries?
"One of Us", the big hit from the album
Here's a live version done on TV of the song "Slipping Through my Fingers". Agnetha Faltskog sings nicely, though it is odd seeing Bjorn and Benny pretending to be singing along
Here is a slideshow someone put together for the song "Soldiers", a song which helped get the album banned in the Soviet Union:
The other songs on the album were "The Visitors" (a catchy song about Soviet dissidents), "I Let the Music Speak", "Two for the Price of One" (a song people either love or loath), and "Like An Angel Passing Through My Room".

I just listened to ABBA's 1973 album Ring Ring, which was a huge hit in Sweden. It features the group unsure of what sound to use. It is rather different to their later output (with the possible exception of the title track).
Here are some of the tracks (yes, they are lip-syncing. All artists lip-synced on TV in those days. Deal with it):
"Ring Ring" (a hit in Sweden)
"People Need Love" (another hit in Sweden)
"Love Isn't Easy (But It Sure is Hard Enough)"
"He Is Your Brother", in a video someone put together, a picture slideshow. You'd be amazed at how many photos exist of ABBA.

The last album I listened to is Raised on Rock by Elvis Presley. It was released 1973. It isn't a well-regarded album, but I rather like it.

I just listened to two albums: "Headquarters" by The Monkees, a 1967 album, their third album, and the first to feature them playing their instruments. It's a great album, so naturally the critics hate it. Further reason to hate music critics.
I also just listened to the compilation The Very Best Of The Merseybeats, not surprisingly by The Merseybeats. They were a 1960s pop-rock group. It's good, but the tracks sound rather similar to each other.

"Switched-On Bach" by Wendy Carlos Released in 1968. Wendy was Walter back in those days.
Basically Bach's music performed on the moog synthesizer, very interesting indeed.

Currently listening for the first time to the mammoth deluxe edition of Metallica's Kill 'Em All, which was released in April of last year. I'm enjoying it so far, although I can't say that by the sixth disc I'm not going to be tired of hearing "Jump in the Fire" etc. so many times in proximity. The bonus content is mostly different live shows from the Kill 'Em All era. Here's a link to what's on it: Kill 'Em All 2016 "Box Set" deluxe edition

"...And Justice for All." by Metallica. Love it. Not top tier stuff by the group but pretty damn good.
