well, assuming equal quality (for good or ill) in both, i'd say Spider-Man. i love Spidey in the funnybooks and i love Star Wars at the movies. also, fuck Sony.
but the Last Jedi would likely be more interesting, just to see what Disney's damage control would look like.

Exactly. It's really a Sophie's Choice of awesome that either (let alone both) would crash and burn. I also find it hilarious that, despite this being a Marvel/MCU board, more people have selected Spider-Man up to this point!

I wouldnt want either to bomb but if you put a knife to throat I would say Spider-man. Because Marvel can take a blow but Sony can't. That would mean Marvel could maybe even buy back the full rights to Spider-man because Sony would probably get into financial trouble if Spider-man bombs.
Marvel cant loose on that one.
But Colden, seriously, why do you hate Disney so much?

Their original cartoons were quite good even if most of them are based on stories written by others. I still think The Lion King is a great film. Unfortunately they stopped doing that. Now they are either re-hashing their old cartoons into live action movies or making money through companies they bought. Its a shame they stopped with making their own stuff.

I gotta say "The re-re-remake for re-re-retards" is the best tag line ever. They should've used that.

Neither will flop and you will have to continue living with both.

I only want last Jedi to flop if it's another rehash like Force awakens. I honestly couldn't care less if homecoming flops or is a hit.

Neither will flop and you will have to continue living with both. I know. I think Spider-Man will exceed expectations and be very well-received while TLJ will not make quite as much as TFA but still rake in a shit-ton of money; not sure whether it will be embraced critically or not.

I'm not so sure about Spiderman. I don't think the whole "Marvel is doing it now! Yippee!" attitude applies to a very big percentage of the general population. Most people I talk to IRL don't even know that there are different studios making different properties, much less care. Most people will just see another reboot and I think that may have an effect on its success.

My daughter has been cold to Homecoming, but she liked the trailer that ran with WW so she has become hopeful.

Honestly, all the hubbub about Star Wars films you don't like befuddles me a bit. Personally speaking, I've never had any problem just tuning out things I don't like. I managed to get through the period of time in which the Twilight films were made barely even noticing them.

Neither. Spider-Man homecoming isn't a remake or a reboot because it's not using the same story as the other ones and it's not starting anything over. You could almost consider it a loose continuation of the past Spider-Man movies. Last Jedi I think will be a lot better than force awakens. Hopefully last Jedi will not make the mistake of just doing a remake.

Neither. Spider-Man homecoming isn't a remake or a reboot because it's not using the same story as the other ones and it's not starting anything over. Spider-Man: Homecoming IS a reboot. It's the 2nd reboot of Spider-Man. It's a reboot if it's not a continuation of the same character/story as previous movies.
Superman Returns is supposed to be a continuation from Superman II so Superman Returns isn't a reboot. But MoS isn't a continuation of the earlier Superman movies so MoS is a reboot. Batman Begins isn't a continuation of the earlier Batman movies so Batman Begins is a reboot.
Similarly, the Amazing Spider-Man movies with Andrew Garfield aren't a continuation of the Spider-Man movies with Toby Maguire so the Amazing Spider-Man movies were the 1st reboot of Spider-Man. And Spider-Man: Homecoming isn't a continuation of the Andrew Garfield movies or the Toby Maguire movies so Spider-Man: Homecoming is the 2nd reboot of Spider-Man.

Which of these once-proud franchises that Disney is in the process of bastardizing with their horrific and gag-inducing approach to producing movies like sausage links would you rather see fail abysmally at the box office this year, between these two swirling, chunky turds: Spider-Man Eleventeen: The Re-re-re-make for re-re-re-tards (working title -- "Spider-Man Homecoming") Star Wars XXXIV: The Last Jedi Until the Next Movie (working title -- Star Wars: The Last Jedi) It would please me immensely to see them both literally make zero dollars at the box office, so it's a tough call I'm not prepared to make at this point. What say you, people? Pah ignore this fool people , thinks the phantom menace is a masterpiece
