I struggle with them a lot myself. I can't get good at Super Mario World even, and that is considered the easiest Mario 2D game.

Another thing is, try to not get angry or frustrated if you Can't figure something out.
Just keep saying, that you'll figure it out another day. This is possibly the hardest thing to learn.
Especially since all that information on any game is easily available.
