You use Boogeyman words like "Virtue Signaling", you may as well say Phrenology was a legit science.
Tell me, did you think "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" was pandering too?
Tell me, how many times will you pay to see The Marvels? Keep in mind, it is set to perform pretty badly, to the point where it seems that Disney is preparing to take the loss but try and save face with "oh, it was a creative dead end, we are rebooting after Secret Wars anyway." So, if you really want to see Danvers, Khan, and Rambeau again before Kang Dynasty, you may need to be at the movies quite often and for whole days for weeks on end. Barbie was supposed to bomb too, so "projections" don't mean much anymore.
I'll see it once, as I do with pretty much every movie.
The MCU was ready to include the Guardians in the rest of the MCU for the Thanos storylines even though everyone said Guardians would bomb royally.

Ah, revising history again, are we? Barbie wasn't projected to flop, and as it came closer to release the pre-sales figures went up. The Marvels on the other hand is but days away and the traders have not reported any noticeable spike in box office projections. In this report by Uproxx, the film is tracking to earn 50% less on opening weekend than the original Captain Marvel in 2019 did in its opening weekend, linkThat is because James Gunn conceived of a blueprint that would tie in the films leading up to the events of Infinity War so they would feel more cohesive and establish a very clear direction that audiences could anticipate. They lost Gunn to Warner Bros. and DC, and have been scrambling to find a decent direction to the next two Avengers features, which has resulted in too much content and lack of enthusiasm for the brand on the whole, hence why projections for such productions as like The Marvels are poor, link Not to be pessimistic, but after this movie we are not very likely to see these characters appear again till the Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, and after the latter it's reboot time. Of course, you will see these three talking points as an opportunity to produce fallacy and create bait for endless debate with no trajectory and conclusion.

Yes it was, the same people poo-pooing The Marvels said that Barbie would open to like 75 Million at best. If not lower.
If Guardians 1 had bombed, they'd still have used the characters in important ways in the Thanos storyline. They'd planned that no matter how well Guardians 1 did
The "Lack of Enthusiasm" came from the fake fans who got angry once they saw that the MCU wouldn't be a White Male Supremacy series anymore after Endgame. That's what led to those "projections". And MCU isn't rebooting after Secret Wars, that's just another false prediction.

*Yawns* You're not even trying anymore. I saved the website some data yesterday with my summarization of the rhetoric you would project, so no need to waste the energy and the web data.

None of the projections were close to what Barbie ended up making.

People with opinions that differ from yours aren't 'fake fans.' For the record, I saw Captain Marvel in the theater three fucking times. It has its flaws, but I liked it a lot. I've gotten into several debates on this very board regarding its merit. Hell, I enjoyed Quantumania. And I think The Marvels looks like a below average MCU film. I'm still taking my family to see it, I'm willing to give it a shot because I'm a [real, not fake] MCU fan; maybe it'll surprise me. But don't tell me I'm a fake fan if I have something negative to say about it. You keep comparing The Marvels to Barbie. Are you prepared to call it a disappointment if it doesn't come close to Barbie numbers? As an MCU fan, I'd love to see it do that. I'd love it more if it were actually a good movie. Like I said, maybe it'll surprise me and be amazing, I'll be more than happy to say I was wrong. But if The Marvels sucks, and it bombs, you'll just keep making excuses and calling people 'fake fans' for not liking it. The message the studio should be receiving from poor reviews and sagging box office receipts is more important than the commentary coming from unstable internet cranks defending everything Marvel to the death. The product will never improve if they only listen to 'fans' like you.

They're no different than the Star Trek fans who hated TNG for existing and never gave it a chance.

What are you talking about? Nobody who liked the MCU to begin with hates the idea of the MCU continuing. The problem I think most people have is that everything after Endgame feels so disconnected.

Yes they did, especially when they heard about how the continuing characters would include more nonwhites and women. Turned them right off because to them any female leads and nonwhite leads automatically meant "Pandering" instead of...the world being more than White Male Leads.

Silly formersamhmd bringing in the race and gender card to the conversation to get a reaction out of people. Really stepping onto a floor full of thumbtacks I would argue - especially when you don't even know the race of the person you're talking to.

If female characters and nonwhites weren't a deal-breaker, we wouldn't be getting all the "M-She-U" Hatemongering and the "Identity Politics" nonsense being spewed out by the Grifters.
I mean, if the MCU had just had real leading ladies and nonwhite leads from the start (not fake ones like Black Widow and Scarlet Witch and War Machine), this would have been averted because those bottom-feeders never would have watched MCU movies to start with.

Silly formersamhmd, Wesley Snipes' portrayal of the Marvel hero Blade is extremely popular, the first film of that trilogy of pictures is considered by many to be the savior of the comic book movie. People were even asking for a Black Widow after her debut in as far back as Iron Man 2. Of course, you'll distort history to keep things interesting.

It's weird how he uses the same blanket argument against everyone, even when it has nothing to do with the conversation. "So and so back in 2012 on a blog said [insert IP here] sucks, and even though you've said nothing remotely close to that, I'm going to argue against those 2012 comments made by someone else." Whatever 'bottom feeders' he's talking about make up like .002% of the general viewing audience, yet he acts as if they're the reason the MCU isn't as popular as it once was.

And yet there were many more saying BW didn't deserve a movie

Nah, it is still pretty liked, especially for Snipes' portrayal which continues to influence the character in other media. That's why it's often highlighted as an addition whenever a streaming service becomes its host. Negative.

Folks saying BW should've gotten a movie is revisionist history, when she was introduced folks were mad she was in the movies at all and felt she was superfluous for a long while.
Blade is liked as an older movie, but put it out now and the modern day audience would just rant about how "Forced" it was.

Reality says everyone has the right to see art, story, and character and appreciate it differently, and objectively they do need to have valid reasons besides like or dislike in argument. But you know already know this.

Someone said characters who didn't exist in the MCU yet were the least liked? Weird. "Killers of the Flower Moon by the whiny brat Martin Scorsese (who should be behind bars for what he did with Taxi Driver) … ?
