DAS LEHRERZIMMER (THE TEACHERS' LOUNGE), which is about an investigation at a school after a series of thefts, makes the viewer experience a mix of tension and fascination. I didn't want the story to stop! And when the end credits rolled, I still wished for the running time to be longer, but for a different reason. Without getting into spoilers, the movie wants to leave things open-ended, but it's inconclusive instead. It feels like the screenwriters didn't know any other way to wrap the plot up. Not to mention that, during the last minute or so, the tone abruptly changes from realistic and tragic to over-the-top and satirical. However, this doesn't overshadow Leonie Benesch's performance nor the compelling and unpredictable way in which a seemingly simple situation spirals out of control.
