9/10, and I thought the scene between Gene Hackman and the Monster was fantastic. Gene Hackman was 5 when this was released.

9/10, and I thought the scene between Gene Hackman and the Monster was fantastic. Gene Hackman was 5 when this was released. Well since this was posted nearly two and a half years ago, I can't remember exactly what my mindset was when I replied but I'm sure I was making a joke in reference to Young Frankenstein. I own both of these and have seen them several times apiece, I'm fully aware Gene wasn't in this one.

8/10 I think the comedy goes too far (Una and the little people scene). Karloff didn't like the monster speaking but that line: "She hate me, like others" is such a powerful delivery. I am not fond of the "Go! You live!" part, but you really feel the frustrations and resignation in that prior utterance.
"Don't pull that lever! You'll blow us all to atoms!"

Absolute super-classic. The pinnacle of James Whale’s oeuvre—ironically, as he originally didn’t want to do it. Bizarre, hilarious, atmospheric, spooky, and deeply personal to Whale.
