DC has always had a fondness for making their onscreen characters ridiculously powerful. From Adam West's Batman to Reeve's Superman, to Green Lantern and now seemingly to JL Superman and even Wonder Woman. Even worse in their TV shows as seen in Flash and Supergirl, heck even Arrow does stuff that's impossible for a human with his backstory.
It's great for a one-off movie as a "wow" moment but it's terrible from a storytelling perspective, especially if you plan to create more movies/episodes about the character. Because it's very hard to keep making interesting storylines about a character that's extremely powerful, and you end up getting a lot of dumb inconsistencies. Just look at how the current Flash TV series keeps fluctuating in power levels. What use is the rest of the JL when in the latest movie Superman was able to defeat Steppenwolf in a few seconds when the entire JL couldn't even get the upper hand.
When the MCU first started putting out movies, I was frustrated at how nerfed the more powerful characters like Thor and Hulk were. As these movies progressed, I realized 1. It made them more relateable and 2. It gave the MCU ample room to allow their powers to grow and upgrade in future movies. DC movies don't have that kind of room.
And if you need any more proof, just look at some of DC's most successful movies of the last 2 decades: The TDK trilogy, where they stripped Batman down of his more outrageous abilities.

I wholeheartedly agree.
Especially with your point about giving Wonder Woman the PANTIES

Superman's always had this problem since the Reeve films though. Lord knows what Snyder's intent was for later down the line but I was under the impression that the codex made him stronger than the average Kryptonian. It doesn't really bother me tbh.

Not just a power cap, but also a "power" cap. DC has this knack of randomly giving characters powers to get out of a situation or to make them better than others. It's like elementary school one-upmanship. "Wonder Woman knows Amazonian martial arts." "But Batman knows every martial art and is a ninja!"

Don't forget MOS where Clark, a guy who's never been in a fight in his entire life, is somehow able to match 2 trained and skilled Kryptonians (specifically bred to be warriors) in h2h.
