It was the only entry in the series actually shot in the fall so it has that great atmosphere. I know most people aren't into the Thorn storyline but I'm just glad it was paid off in excess with this sequel and I absolutely love the score for this one.

01. Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) - 7,5/10 02. Halloween (1978) - 7/10 03. Halloween II (1981) 5,5/10 04. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) - 4,5/10 05. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) - 3,5/10 06. Halloween 5 (1989) - 3/10 I have not seen the rest of the films in this very uneven franchise, and the remake and its sequel (or is it sequels?) I have no plans on watching anytime soon. Halloween II was the first one that I saw back in the 90s, and since I was pretty new to the slasher genre, I remembered it as as rather chilling experience, at least compared to what went as slashers during the late 90s and early 00s, which was entertaining but not very scary of atmospheric/chilling as the first three Halloween films. Then many years went by and I had seen the first two films, and I think also some of the later ons but decided to pick up Halloween III, hated by almost everyone, even the ones who never had seen it before , but I guess the knowledge that their favorite boogeyman Michael Myers who was nowhere to be seen was more than enough to dismiss it as "the worst movie ever made". For me, I went in with absolutely no expecations at all, and it turned out that part 3 was to be a very pleasant surprise, which also really stood out in a great way in the 80s horror genre. It had a fantastic cold and minimalistic synth-dominated "doomsday" soundtrack/score, a very chilling and unpredictable plot/atmosphere, gruesome and nasty special effects and kills, robots, and the best part was that long gone were the typical slasher genre teenagers and Michael Myers and instead we got the always reliable and cool Tom Atkins in the main lead together with a stunning Stacy Nelkin teaming up to go in search for the ruthless toymaker Conal Cochran (Dan O'Herlihy) who is not gonna settle by just getting rid of some horny teenagers one day a year, no. He want to mass murder as many kids as possible, all over the world at the same time and in such a nasty and brutal way, by having their parents pretty much paying top dollar for it to happen by purchasing their little loved ones Cochran's very own special made Halloween masks. I have not seen part 2 since, I think 2011, and by then I had fallen in love with Season of the Witch and suddenly part 2 was not all that impressive anymore and Halloween: H20 I liked when I saw it back in 1999-00 but now it seemed like a poor cash-in on the success of the 90s franchises such as Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer and I really hated some of the characters in that films. All, in all, I should really give the first 5 a new go, but I doubt I will ever bother with the ones from 1998 and onwards.

Just not my cup of tea, though I can certainly see why it has a cult followng.

Actually, I've also seen the TV cut of the original and the workprint of Resurrection but there aren't enough differences in those to really warrant a separate rank.
