I haven't read many,
I read 'The Sisters Brothers'. Short book, entertaining. I hear they're making a movie.
I read 'The Englishman's Boy'. Really enjoyed it.
Right now I'm reading 'Lonesome Dove'. I'm about half-way through, I can see why it won some awards.
I used to read mostly science fiction and fantasy but westerns are one genre I never got into.
I'd probably like some books in the murder mystery genre, but I'm not sure where to start there.

I don't think I've ever read a western book, even though I am a big fan of the genre when it comes to movies.

I love a good western, but I can't say I've read that many.
Lonesome Dove is probably the best I've read. I didn't want it to end.
Warlock by Oakley Hall is nearly as good.
Butcher's Crossing by John Williams
The Big Sky by AB Guthrie

Used to love the "Sudden" books when I was a kid. Tried to reach read one and found it embarrassingly bad. Louis L'amour was the best writer I suppose.

I read it.

Its prob my least favorite of that series. I like parts of it...but a decent amount is just too slow for how short the story really is. The rest of the series is much better, but the rest of the series does add a lot more sci fi/fantasy.

I have James Ellroy's collected Western short stories. Haven't read any of them though!
EDIT: Elmore Leonard, not James Ellroy!

Years ago, I read a few Louis L'Amour books. I must have enjoyed them, because I know I read more than one.

The only one I can think of off-hand is "Little Big Man".

Cormac McCarthy's Border Trilogy is great and of course Blood Meridian.
There is also Robert Olmstead's Coal Black Horse and its sequel Far Bright Star, the latter being developed as a movie by Joaquin Phoenix and Casey Affleck.

I remember telling the board about the offer (or maybe it was on the old IMDB board.) I think Squelchy may have bought it too. Sadly I'll almost certainly never get around to reading it.
