I did not use to wear underwear for over 20 years of my life. But when I left India I finally did. I often heard that perverted airport officials make you strip in the name of checking you. So I didn't want to be fully stripped naked at airport of a foreign country. And so I bought underwear before I left India. I now wear it but sometimes I don't.

Most of the clothing we wear inn India is not suited for the humid weather. Our grand pa generation used to wear loin clothes inside their dhoti which allowed some air circulation. I guess they are not even manufactured now.
I never get the concept of suit and boot in India. Why do we want to cover ourselves in layers and layers of clothing?
I would personally prefer a loose collarless t-shirt with cargo pants and simple floaters. Funny how that our colonialized mindsets never consider that formal.

I agree with all that. The worst part is that the small employees are pressurised to wear excessive formal dresses. What purpose does a tie serve except choke you in heat of India? Consider a small town medical representative. It's frightening how much they are controlled by their bosses.

It used to be effin hot. Thank god for small mercies like not forcing tie.

Why make people do things which can't increase human productivity but only constrains them.

well said, aj. i hope this changes very soon. Yeah, man. Why make people do things which can't increase human productivity but only constrains them. indians like to make things harder for themselves and each other. i remember the time when waiters in posh kerala restaurants used to wear formals and tie. but now atleast the junior waiters wear clothes suited to our climate. no respite for the senior guys though.
