Very interesting. Thanks for posting. Not sure at this point, though, that I am ever going to want to watch any of those films. I have liked two of Koreeda's previous films but hated one. What little I know about "Shoplifters" seems to hearken back to his "Nobody Knows" (one of them that I liked) which was about young homeless orphans and Spike Lee's "BlacKKKlansman" also looks like building on a previous satire of his, "Bamboozled" which was about an African-American TV network executive who created a hit racist show. I'll need more info on them both before making a decision.

Very happy that Hirokazu Kore-eda has won the Palme d'Or. He's my favourite current Japanese director. I have seen several of his films and liked or loved all of them. They don't always get released in Canada, either in theatres or on DVD, so I am often forced to buy the DVD from Hong Kong or Taiwan. With a Palme d'Or, hopefully this one will get a theatrical release.

What was the film of him that you didn't like? "After Life." Here is what I said in a review back in 2005 on the old boards.
