As per beliefs of Pure Land Buddhism, which is a branch of Mahayana school of Buddhism, if you call Amitabha Buddha (Amida Buddha) name again and again he calls you to his pure land.

Yes, but, that is Amitabha. What about Gautama? ? There are many prayers for Shakyamuni Buddha as well. I don't know if Gautama ever asked people to pray to him but later Buddhists definitely did. I do however know that Siddhartha said that he will be waiting on doors of Nirvana until everyone has received Nirvana. That proves that he was compassionate for people who are lost in samsara.
