The songs I believe are most classic are almost never regarded by on line critics as the best of the group or individual.
For instance, in John Lennon post Beatle songs, it appears IMAGINE is a huge favorite, but to me it only ranks about 12th of all his songs. It's a bit ordinary sounding compared to his songs. NUMBER NINE DREAM is totally awesome. INSTANT KARMA is the definition rock song. MIND GAMES blows Imagine away.
US AND THEM is the greatest song Pink Floyd ever put out, yet no one ever mentions it.
