I hope this means they're just moving on from the Snyder backstory of doing nothing for 100 years. No questions asked, just do it. No one liked that anyway.

That would be interesting. However, I wouldn't want the title to just be "Wonder Woman: 1984."

They did say it was going to be set in the 80's. Sounds interesting.

Outside George Orwell's book I don't see what's so interesting about the year 1984.

How are you going to make a Wonder Woman movie based on movies that came out in 1984? Not saying you can't do that. I wouldn't. It could take place in 1984 but why does it matter then? When I think about a movie being made in the past I'm thinking of what happened historically. I'm not saying nothing happened in 1984 either. Things happen all the time. But how would you make it interesting?

Again you guys are going back to the media came out that year. What I'm wondering is what is Wonder Woman going to do in a movie set in 1984? We already got some fish out of water comedy in the first movie. What are you going to do that's new and different in the second?

If the DCEU was very different than the real life universe I could come up with a lot of ideas on a 1984 movie. Just steal from George Orwell. It would be perfect. You have Wonder Woman the symbol of hope, freedom and feminism going up against some authoritarian group. And they may very well do that. That could be their thinking here. I assume the DCEU is very close to real history but the filmmakers can change anything they like. We don't know everything that was happening.

So for whatever reason the first Wonder Woman movie took place during World War 1. I don't understand why they just didn't go back to World War 2. Maybe it's because Captain America already did that. But whatever. The early 20th Century was an important time Women's Right but the movie doesn't go into that stuff at all. If we have to go back in time again for Wonder Woman 2 I'd go to the late '60s/early '70s. That was a big time for Women's Rights. Not only that you have The Vietnam War. Unlike the first World War that one is a lot more controversial. There's a lot of things you can do. And wouldn't it be funny if someone had Diana dress up like Mod Wonder Woman and she gets mad and rips the dress apart? That would be fantastic. With that character I just don't know what we're doing going back to 1984. You can do things for sure I just don't know why. Of course whoever comes up with these movies have been spending a long time on them and probably has better ideas than I do anyway.

This is the Reagan years so perhaps she's the one behind the Iran-Contra affair?

I think setting the movie in WWII would’ve not only been derivative, but it would’ve been pretty silly if Wonder Woman at some point went up against Adolf Hitler, thinking he was Ares. Also, it would’ve been a little difficult to go with the whole “we’re all to blame for this war” angle if Wonder Woman is being pitted against freaking Nazis.

Actually, Ares specifically stated (while under the influence of the Lasso of Truth) that he wasn’t responsible for the war. He had nothing to do with Ludendorff or Dr. Poison being evil.
