First let me say that Ragnorockers is in my top five MCU movies. I'm a big fan. And although I do think the humor in the MCU can be excessive- it works in this movie and it works really really well. BUT... That one joke during the destruction of Asgard where Korg rambles on about how it can be rebuilt and then, when it explodes says "Oh those foundations are gone. Never mind!" is my most hated joke in the entire MCU. If there should ever be a serious moment in a Thor movie it's the destruction of Asgard, his home and kingdom. You'd think Marvel would recognize this and actually let the moment play with actual emotion! But NO! God forbid these movies have anything serious in them! We can't let the dim witted audience get confused by emotion! We can't trust that they just might be mature enough to handle it! We can't risk anyone actually feeling anything! They might get scared and refuse to see our next movie... So let's ruin this would be powerful moment with a lame stupid completely gratuitous JOKE! TERRIBLE!!!!!@!!!&!1 APPAULING!!!!$!!!6!!!!2 HORRENDOUS!!!!!!€£¥!!!% Again, I do absolutely love this movie. But that joke is fucking unforgivable. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. As if anyone could stop me! (this last line is an inside joke for BATouttaheck )

That's modern Disney for you. Everything is a joke (except the destruction of Wakanda).

Ive seen MCU fanatics defend that joke to high hills. They really have no shame. My only real problem with the "Marvel humor" is that sometimes they just don't know when to shut the hell up and avoid ruining a serious moment. Its clearly a delibrate attempt to keep things "light" for general audiences. Civil War and Infinity War resist this impulse thankfully.

Its to keep the kids happy and smiling even though horrific things are happening. And whats sadder is some adults buy that kinda humour Korg says at the end.

That, and it's often used to wink at the audience. Especially in movies like Ant Man and Doctor Strange. Marvel is sometimes like an extremely insecure person that constantly mocks himself because he's afraid that if he doesn't do it first, others will. Unfortunately this formula extends to tested A listers as well... Compare the end of Spider-Man (2002) to Homecoming... In one, Peter chooses the responsibility of being a hero over his love, Mary Jane. This dramatic moment is followed by an epic shot of Spidey swinging through New York. Now, take the other, Peter makes a similar choice in choosing to be a "friendly neighborhood" Spiderman over the fame and glory of being an Avenger... But it's packed full of jokes featuring Stark. Then, we see an (almost) epic shot of Peter in costume... But it is followed by a joke with Aunt May catching him to end the movie. Because OF COURSE it had to end with a joke. You couldn't just have that epic shot. (Never mind the fact that Aunt May finding out Peter's identity should be a serious profound moment!)

Yeah i didn't like it either, despite liking Korg.
That's why i appreciated Infinity War. The Russo's had a good balanced.

I was actually talking with my friend the other day about why he didn't just hand it back. Honestly that just ruined the potentially powerful set up from TFA.

He probably didn't want to encourage her.

It could have been worse, after Peter Parker died in Tony Stark's arms, Stark could have made a joke about another one biting the dust.

During the entire ending I was thinking "please, don't ruin this with a joke"... I half expected Korg to show up and say "Hey, mang. Don't worry. We can bring him back. We just need those glowing rock things. And, uh-oh. They're gone. Sorry" *audience erupts in laughter*

Yeah. The joke itself was pretty funny but its timing was in bad taste. It's like making a fart joke in a funeral.
