Will always agree that Mask of the Phantasm is amazing, but I never found anything special about Batman Begins. For me it is equal to the first XMen movie...the groundwork that need to be laid to tell the real story. Everyone loves the Dark Knight. For my money, it's a hodgepodge of half-baked philosophical ideas and sorted melodrama. I'll give Heath his performance but, other than that; TDK doesn't get me out of bed in the morning. Batman Begins, on the other hand, is a near-perfect amalgam of gothic fantasy, crime thriller, and neo-noir super-hero film. The "Fear Gas" trope in lesser hands could have turned into a Schumacher-level fiasco, but in Nolan's hands, it layers the fantastic onto an already rich and atmospheric world. Even at complete rest, Bale's face projects intensity and purpose instead of slack-jawed confusion and pain. You can almost physically see the moment when the Batman takes over, and Bruce Wayne becomes a flimsy mask that can barley restrain an elemental force. I can't say I agree with your assessment of TDK... But your assessment of BB is on point!

I love em both. Amazing films. Agreed but, my deserted island pick is Batman Begins. The only thing wrong with that film is the title.

What would ya have called it instead? I've always been partial to borrowing the title Batman: No Man’s Land. It perfectly describes the lawless Gotham that Bruce returns to after his sojourn abroad.

Or call it Dark Knight something, tie it in with the trilogy. How about The Dark Knight: Birth? Yeah, weak, I know—and could only work in retrospect, unless they were planning to title the second movie The Dark Knight from the beginning.

The main difference between these two is that Batman Begins is a good movie and Dark Knight isn't. The difference between you and reality is that you're not in it.
Dark Knights not a good movie? What kinda drugs are you on?
