You mean poll. No one wants to see a pole.

You mean poll. No one wants to see a pole. That gives me an idea for a poll about poles....

Well, I did see Le Prince's Roundhay Garden Scene, but that only lasts 2 seconds or something. What are the two pictures from the 1870s that IMDb lists? I might have seen those as well, I did check out some of the world's oldest films a few years back.

They are Passage de Venus (1874) and Sallie Gardner at a Gallop (1878), though calling either of them a film is stretching things considerably....neither were meant to be projected.

So what are they, exactly?

as far as seen some of... it's hard to say exactly but i imagine it's something prior to the 1930's as i know i have seen bits and pieces of some really old silent movies before but i never really sat down and watched one from beginning to end.
but i know i have seen The Wizard of Oz (1939) a fair amount of times since i was a kid but i have not seen that in many years now which means i could at least go back to the 1930's which, come to think of it, is what i am going to select as i don't think i have seen a movie in it's entirety prior to the 1930's.
but the oldest decade that i gave at least one 7/10 or higher level movie which is the 1940's with The Song of Bernadette (1943)(7/10).
p.s. if anyone selects a decade really recent they might barely have seen any movies as i would imagine just about everyone who's seen at least a fair amount of movies would at least go back into the 1990's.

The oldest film I have seen with a plot is Shadows (1922).

I've seen the galloping horse thing if that counts. I've also seen the other usual stuff. Trip to the Moon. Scrooge or Marley's Ghost. The Great Train Robbery.
So 1878.

Ah yes, I've seen those two as well. But I've got to agree with you they aren't exactly films. I don't think Roundhay Garden Scene is one either.

Love the giant flying bat! in 2085 if I am still around at the age of 100 I just wonder what the technology that movies will have cause that movie would be damn near 200 years old. Just see how we have advanced in terms of film/special effects.
