Which kind of fight scene do you prefer the most in your cbm? Do you prefer:
1. Gun and gadget fights where they use any blaster or blaster-looking implement to shoot at each other and use various technological gadgets against each other?
2. Sword fights or pretty much any melee weapons fight where they hack, slash, stab and pummel each other?
3. Fist fights or hand to hand fights where they fight unarmed and use their martial skill against each other?
4. Pure power fights, where they use their energy blasts, magical talents, elemental manipulation and any other power not mentioned above against each other?

Somehow action has become my least favorite part of movies. I find most fights of any kind dull, gratuitous and poorly choreographed with a few exceptions.
To me it doesn't really matter what type of fight it is as much how well it's filmed and how well it serves the greater story.

It might be a cop-out answer but it depends on how well they are executed. I like the visceral nature of melee and hand-to-hand and the creative utilization of tech / abilities of gun-gadget and powers fights. The former makes you want to take up the martial arts and the latter makes you want to learn to be tricksy.
Like Ackbar said, how it serves the greater story is very important, but I do think you can have a great fight scene that tells a story in itself through visuals. One of my favorites to reference for that is Sword of the Stranger:
You don't need to know anything about this movie to understand what is going on.

Normally i would say hand-to-hand combat. But since i know fight choreography in hollywood action movies are bad, i'll say gun fight.

Sword fights. I love good sword choreography in movies. After that fist fights and then gun fights. Powers & abilities is the worst one, I think. It allows directors to forget about making a good action scene and just make the characters shoot energy balls at each other. Look what happened to the final fight in Wonder Woman. It's definitely possible to make good power & ability fights, but it's also the easiest one to abuse when a director is lazy. An example of good power fights would be in the Avatar: The Last Airbender tv show. It shows so much creativity. I almost feel bad for ranking powers lowest due to fantastic shows and movies like that, but unfortunately good power & ability battles are a rare thing.

When a fight scene is particularly well choreographed (overpass battle in Winter Soldier) or visually inventive while showcasing a superhero's abilities (Doctor Strange vs. Thanos, Iron Man vs. Thanos {really Iron Man throughout the entire film} in IW), I definitely get a kick out of it. Guns, fists, melee weapons, tech, magic, whatever; do something clever with it and I'm in.

Unarmed hand to hand combat is where is at but, I have to give to that old lech, Bryan Singer, for the standoff in X-Men where Charles takes control of Sabertooth to break Erik's neck. Meanwhile, Erik has his (magnetic) finger on the trigger of dozens of guns all pointed at the heads of innocent police officers.
The X-Men movies haven't had as clever a standoff/stalemate as that since.

At this point you can make any type of fight look like another. I think it comes down to how well done that fight is.

I’m really digging power fights right now and was going to say it’s because of Avatar:TLA! This week I started going through the series with my 5yo and I forgot how awesome and well made it is. She also is really enjoying it.
