Buried in the announcement of Geoff Johns's job change at Warner Bros., Deadline reports that The Batman will "likely" be a reboot, with the "stand-alone" franchise starring a new actor rather than bringing Ben Affleck back to the role. Reports have been mixed regarding Affleck's interest in returning to the role, and Warner Bros's interest in bringing him back, since even before Justice League flew into theaters and landed with a thud late last year. Given the frequency and magnitude of those rumors, along with the implicit critique of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League included in the Deadline story, it is possible that this is not new information but rather an educated guess based on previous stories. Nevertheless, Deadline's industry profile makes such an offhand remark feel less likely and gives the claim more weight. It has been an couple of weeks for Warner Bros., with shakeups that include veteran executive (and former DC Entertainment chief) Diane Nelson leaving the company and a number of more subtle moves, some of which have been reflected by website updates. Federal regulators are expected to decide on the fate of the Warner Bros./AT&T merger tomorrow, so it is possible these moves are being made to streamline Warner management ahead of the deal. comicbook.com/dc/2018/06/11/report-matt-reevess-the-batman-likely-a-reboot-no-ben-affleck/

So who plays Bruce? Gyllenhaal is probably out. Eric Bana for an older option maybe? Then maybe Dan Stevens for a younger version? Why is this even a reboot anyway?
What an odd little franchise WB's cooked up here.

It's pretty clear they have no idea what they're doing at this point. Honestly at this point just reboot the DCEU with Flashpoint (that seems like the plan), and scrap everything but Wonder Woman, or at least wait to see how Aquaman and Shazam are received, before doing anything else, anyway.

They have "No" idea. In all honesty I think they should stick with this franchise and have affleck stay on. Who the hell knows nowadays tho.

Thanks for that correction.

Thanks for sharing this hardball but I am not believing anything at this point until I hear it straight from the mouth of Ben Affleck himself 'cause there have been WAY too many rumours that Ben Affleck is leaving the DCEU going back to 'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice' which have all turned out to be untrue and it is like all the rumours that TNA was closing down that have been floating around on the internet for the past decade but every year it keeps going and going or 'Supernatural' and how for 5 years after Season 5 numerous sites kept reporting it was going to be cancelled but they gave up after Season 11 and now the show is up to Season 14. When something has its haters like the DCEU has there are going to be rumours like this from people wanting him to leave and the DCEU to fail but at this point they could reboot the DC movies and make Oscar award worthy movies and will still get a ton of hate from peoplewho only want one company to stand tall which is why 'Man of Steel' and 'Batman vs Superman' were two of the most hated movies online long before they were released.

Yeah I wont believe anything until Affleck himself says it or WB.

If there are plans for two Jokers, there can be two Batmen. There will just be the Snyderverse and another label for non-Snyderverse stuff, as Geoff Johns said before JL came out.
This is Snyder's fault. Him and Goyer.

Snyder I could get behind the suits backing at first but Goyer should have been a red flag after Green Lantern.

Watchmen - mixed reviews, didn't make its money back Owl movie - mixed reviews, didn't make its money back Suckerpunch - negative reviews, didn't make its money back At least Goyer had TDK trilogy...

But yeah, Snyder's DCEU movies getting mixed reviews and struggling to get their money back should have been a shock to no one, let alone a bean counting suit.
