I've barely made toast. So no, I've never baked a cake.

I used to bake cakes, cupcakes and cookies. But, I lost interest in baking about 30 years ago. I don't care much for desserts. It's not that I dislike all sweets, but I like to "savor" a savory meal, rather than introduce a glut of sugar.
Sometimes, I like a bit of dark chocolate later at night ... but, often I don't. With cakes, you need to start consuming them before they go stale, and they would never be finished before becoming as solid as brick, with mold.

I remember it was june 2015 that one day I decided that fast food is not good for me and then I watched youtube and learned how to cook. Since then I have tried many things such as pasta, Thai foods, Chinese foods, African foods and western foods and I have enjoyed them all Without youtube I might not have started cooking at all.

Not by myself, or where I was not just a helper.

I have baked many kinds. I make a carrot cake that uses no electric mixers - all by hand. Also lemon loaf cakes. And cheesecake. Not so much with the cookies and muffins.

Yes, I started baking with my grandmother when I was a kid. Although I enjoy baking, I haven't done so in a long while.

Nope! I just wait for someone in my workplace to have a birthday and head down to the break room. For some reason, there's always cake there. Coincidence..........I think not!

I've baked many cakes, all flavors chocolate, white, yellow, spice. As the kids grew up I baked less then when my husband was diagnosed with diabetes I stopped baking. My personal favourite
Chocolate Zucchini cake
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
1/2 cup Margarine 1/2 cup oil 1 & 3/4 cups sugar 2 large eggs 1 tsp. vanilla Beat these ingredients all together
2 cups grated zucchini....set aside 1/2 cup sour milk......set aside (to sour sweet milk add a tablespoon of vinegar to the milk)
In a large bowl combine 4 tbsp. cocoa 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp cloves 2&1/2cups all purpose flour
Add dry ingreds to sugar mixture alternatly with milk and zucchini, making about 4 additions each. beat well with each addition. Pour into a greased and floured 9X13 inch baking pan. Over the top of the batter sprinkle 1/2 to 1 cup chocolate chips. Bake 40 to 45 minutes.
This cake is a real crowd pleaser, super for groups, pot lucks or family. It also freezes very well. I cut into serving sized peices and wrap well before freezing. 30 to 40 seconds in the microwave oven defrosts it very well. Of course before giving to a child test to make sure there are no hot spots.
