I should just point out that it’s being heavily rumored that we’ll be getting a trailer within the next week.

From what I understand, the director has been very persistant about the trailer. Not-wanting to give stuff away (as happened with Batman v Superman) and not-wanting to have stuff appear in the trailer but not the movie to the point people are seriously peeved (as with Justice League). Plus, you want to show people how awesome this is going to be, without *points to previous two concerns a director might have* ruining it.

People are jumping the gun and calling this the next 'SOLO' or something. They have until December people. Relax.

People are jumping the gun and calling this the next 'SOLO' or something. They have until December people. Relax. I never understood why people want a trailer like a week after filming ends, and a year or more out from the theatrical release. Then you have SUICIDE SQUAD and ASSASSIN'S CREED, where people were so sick of the ads that they didn't want to see the movie by the time it came out, people had seen ads for so long they assumed it was on DVD already, or where people have built up so much anticipation based on those snippets/images in the trailer that the movie can't possibly live up to them. If a movie comes out on X date, let the teaser come out like 5-6 months ahead of it, at most. Maybe 4 months prior to the movie, then a couple weeks later, let the whole trailer come out. Do a second trailer about a month before the movie comes out, then let your movie come out. And also, if I was an exec, I'd make a rule (which would have helped STAR TREK BEYOND if someone at Paramount had this rule) that you can NOT use anything from the last 30hr of a movie that is under 2hrs long and nothing from the last 34 minutes of any 2+ hour long movie. That way people don't go, "I know the movie now", or are halfway through the movie saying, "Well he can't really be dead, I saw him talking to the red head in the trailer, and she hasn't even shown up yet in the movie".
