I noticed that when I saw the film. If not simply a continuity error due to a meaningless hidden detail, I would guess that it could be an error on Nova Corps’ part, rather than Thanos lying. He is blunt and without need to hide his intentions. Thanos could have hidden the planet from the Corps or kept the planet in isolation in an effort to keep them thriving, undisturbed by other cultures he hadn’t saved yet.

I just assumed he was lying to her. Do you think he did a follow up visit after he destroyed half the population of her home world? He probably destroyed Zen-Whoberi's infrastructure entirely in his initial attack and then left half of the population, already starving and fatigued, to rebuild. Those that survived more then likely left Zen-Whoberi seeking other worlds with friendly immigration polices where they could live as refugees.

Words are powerful when used right. If there was no one on the planet then the planet will prosper without people destroying it.
