In the books Ashara is old flame of Lord Stark? I thought they were just rumours. I do also not like Jon being Targaryen. I have never warmed up to Targaryens. I just don't like them. To be fair, very few events that happened before the books timeline are concrete. Reading between the lines, Ned at least had a crush on Ashara at the very minimum. I think it’s mentioned Ned delivered Arthur Daynes sword to her personally after he fell at the Tower of Joy. Rumors were she threw herself off a cliff because of that or something. Memory is fuzzy on the details. But it’s kind of implied they had a thing going.

Truer words have never been spoken. The pairing of Jon and Dany has absolutely zero chemistry. The whole stupid hyped up boat sex scene was a total garbage thrown on us. Was it the actor's fault or simply that the whole thing was so far fetched and contrived, it couldn't have been made to work anyway? This is the kind of discussions which make me happy not to have seen the trash, by the way. The only way Kit Harington seems compatible with Emilia Clarke is in the fact that both are of short heights. Otherwise, there is no compatibility between them as they have very different personalities.
Even when we talk of characters, Jon Snow is entirely different from Dany Targaryen.
So to answer your question - it wasn't actors fault as they don't have compatibility with each other and this whole relationship was forced on them. The whole thing was far fetched and contrived. Mainly because the script writers thought they had to please the foolish fans who wanted to see the mixing of ice and fire. Eliminate this stupid relationship and the show might have been far more interesting. Just for doing this they had to bring Jon Snow all the way from the North to Dragonstone and had to waste precious time in creating a love story.

I agree with all of you , this is why it makes me so angry sometimes when they (D&D) had Dany and Jon have sex just to please a group of fans who were fantazing since season 1 , episode 1 Jon and Dany would get together because they were so good looking together and they are meant to to be together ,and restore targaryens and some other nonsense ,meanwhile they never shared a scene together until many years later and we all saw what happened when they did , there is 0 chemistry they don't even look good together I didn't really enjoy their dialogue either, Dany is bossy bitchy bend the knee or else and Jon looks like her puppy doing what she tells him and a fool becoming her prisoner. … Jon going to her door like a hired gigolo I mean I'm sorry but I can't .. I think GRMM in the books will never have Dany and Jon have sex he even hinted that in one of the GOT conventions with some delusional fans shouting back at him to do it , unless he too caves in this stupidity. There is no possible "chemistry" between both characters in the first place. She's a slut and he's still caught up in his feelings for another. She is a tyrant who wants to rule the world at dragon point, he wants to save everyone no matter who they are. Their political alliance should be necessary and uneasy. Both have something the other needs, not wants and their drivers are opposites. This should be in continuation with GRRM's principle of placing his characters in conflict with themselves, of choosing a lesser evil. It would have been so much exciting and inetersting having Jon and Dany at odds fighting each other instead of what they did . More dramatic finding out you are related to someone you hate and fighting , Jon may form an alliance with cersei behind danys back maybe Jon senses or sees something in Dany that rings true to what cersei has been saying about her no matter what after the WW are gone or defeated how is Dany going to control two big dragons ? I doubt she will put them in chains again anyway now she can't ,they are too big ,I think they killed them for a reason at dragon pit years ago ,people will be terrified having two large dragons flying over them threatning their children etc.. After Jon thinks about it he won't want Dany in power and he may side with cersei or make some type of deal.

That's the thing it's not even a love story it didn't come across like that at all they failed big time if that is what they are trying to do , like you said it looked forced , Jon looked lost and Dany bossy before they had sex they didn't even exchange a meaningful romantic conversation , only personal conversation I remember at the dragonpit they talked about Dany not being able to have children and Jon told her to get a second opinion and handed her a baby dragon skull ,that convo is not Romance at all and then they insult us further by showing jons parents Lyanna and Rhaeger getting married while Jon and Dany having sex , It was so awkward I didn't like it at all .

For me Ned's trip to Starfall is one of the biggest clues that R+L=J will not happen in the books. He goes there just to return a sword?? Ashara supposedly gives birth to a stillborn, then kills herself for some reason?? No, I believe he is going there to perform a baby swap. Lyanna's baby he is carrying from the Tower of Joy, for Ashara's baby.

They make note that she’s got a scar across her belly so I’m wondering if she may wind up being Ashara Dayne. Not sure how that’d factor in to anything but...

Maybe Shireen's story to her father stannis about the book she was reading dance of dragons will be a repeat in westeros , but yes I'm almost 99% sure cersei /Jon are forming some type of alliance

Cercei...Robert's first child was neither his' nor a stillbirth. Ned, cheating on your best buddy and king. No wonder that you had issues with Jaime.

That alone right there made the story so much different and inetersting ,😁😁 remember season 1 when Robert slapped cersei in front of ned?, ned didn't like that and asked her if he did that often , and maybe cersei hated him (ned)for picking Kat over her and leaving her with Robert that's how it should have been not this Lyanna and rhagger so boring have seen it so many times families that hate each other their kids fall in love ...yawn zzzzzzzzzzzzz

It doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is Cersei being slowly tortured to death for the last 6 eps of the series. Something involving her being a human toilet for Kings Landing would be hilarious.
